Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton to debut on Celebrity Gogglebox

Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton are set to make their ‘Gogglebox’ debuts on Friday (25.10.19).
The men behind the sketch show ‘The League of Gentlemen’ and comedy-drama ‘Inside No.9’ will join a star-studded cast – including Nick Grimshaw, Martin Kemp and his son Roman, and Denise van Outen – on the programme to help raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.
Reece, 50, and Steve, 52, said in a statement: "We are big ‘Gogglebox’ fans and couldn’t be more chuffed to be on the sofa together.
"We have slightly questionable telly tastes but as it’s for an amazing cause like Stand Up To Cancer, hopefully the viewers will let it slide.
"Cancer affects way too many of us and we need to pull together and put a stop to it."
The pair are best known as being in the comedy show ‘The League of Gentlemen’ along with Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson, who all met at Breton Hall College in their teens.
The show – which originally aired on BBC Radio 4 before moving to BBC Two – is based around residents of the fictional Pennines town of Royston Vasey and ran for three series from 1999 to 2002.
They also starred in a 2005 film, ‘The League of Gentlemen Apocalypse’, in which the locals had to appear in the real world to save their beloved town.
The comedy gang reunited on BBC Two for a three-episode special in December 2017 to celebrate the 20th anniversary, 15 years after the last series aired.
