Ralph Fiennes to star in Kingsman prequel

Ralph Fiennes is set to star in a ‘Kingsman’ prequel.
The 55-year-old actor has reportedly been cast in Matthew Vaughn’s new story in his spy franchise which will take place before the events of the first two movies – ‘The Secret Service’ and ‘The Golden Circle’.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the prequel will be set during World War I and will explore the origins of the intelligence agency, as Fiennes’ character becomes Kingsman’s first official agent.
The film is due to start shooting early in 2019 and is scheduled for a November 8, 2019 release.
The prequel will also feature rising star Harris Dickinson, and although plot details are under wraps it is thought that the new script will be a fictional storyline focused around the real life Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment which for over a 100 years has included Kingsman as a unique rank, the equivalent of private.
The first ‘Kingsman’ movies focused on Taron Egerton as Eggsy – a young man recruited to be a special spy by Colin Firth’s character, Harry Hart – and the ‘Robin Hood’ actor has admitted he idolises his co-star.
The 27-year-old actor is in awe of Firth and admits he finds it impossible to hide his admiration for the Oscar-winning actor.
He said: "I think even if I tried to pretend that I don’t like Colin, I wouldn’t get very far. I’ve seen so many shots of me looking like I want to marry him. He’s just every bit as affable and pleasant and kind as he seems. He has this persona of being a landed gentry type, but he’s very down-to-earth and sweet and cool. He’s just a dad, a family man who occasionally pretends to be a super spy."
