Josh Homme reveals he had eyes for all the goth girls as a teen on new Queens of the Stone Age tune Where the Goth Girls At?.
The new song is the third single taken from the rock band’s ninth studio album Perfecth, which arrives October 30.
The track blends stripped‑back riffs with a dramatic, full‑band chorus, lifted by strings and horns. The frontmant says the track draws on memories from his teenage years in Palm Desert, focusing on young love and the urge to impress.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Josh said: “Watching the goth girls working the counter at JCPenney and giving goth makeovers to the old ladies, that’s when I knew the only place I want to be is where the goth girls at. Teenage love, ain’t it grand?”
The band have also released a video for the track, reuniting with directors Christopher Gruse and Tony Wolski, who previously worked on Easy Street.
The clip features comedian Steve Agee, dancer and artist Scarlett Kapella, singer and actress Lou Lou Safran, members of Queens, and a heavy dose of black ink. Set inside a deserted power plant, the goth girls take charge as they transform everyone they encounter.
Where the Goth Girls At? follows earlier Perfecth singles Insignificant Other and Easy Street, both previewing the album’s mix of dark humour, emotional weight and stylistic experimentation.
The album was recorded in sessions stretching from New Orleans to Los Angeles, with the band describing the music as fearless, atmospheric and deliberately varied. “
Josh said: “Every song sounds like it’s from a different world.
“And that’s on purpose, because it’s trying to stitch together all these emotions revolving around love, lust, foolishness, and the sort of wisdom that comes as a gift from all that.”
Queens of the Stone Age recently resumed their North American stadium tour with Foo Fighters on September 15, and have announced a run of headline dates across Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Singapore for later in the year. Newly added is a March 6, 2027 show at Mexico City’s Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes with Interpol, with more dates to follow.
