Queen Elizabeth rush back from Paris for Epsom Downs?

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth will rush over from Paris to make it to the Epsom Derby on June 7.

The 88-year-old monarch will visit President Francois Hollande at the Elysee Palace in the French capital before returning to England hours later to make sure she’s in time to catch the highlight of the racing calendar.

A palace source said told The Sunday Express newspaper: "The timings that have been worked out have made it possible for the Queen to carry out engagements in Paris in the morning and still make the Derby in the afternoon. It works for everyone."

Elizabeth is set to land in France on June 5 with husband Prince Philip, 92.

They will attend events in Normandy to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings which took place on June 6, 1944 when the Western Allied forces initiated an operation to liberate mainland Europe from Nazi occupation during World War II.

She will be joined by Prince Charles and Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

After this the queen will then travel to Paris with the Duke of Edinburgh, who is believed to join her at Derby.
