Britain’s Queen Elizabeth has returned to Buckingham Palace after spending the summer period in Balmoral.
The 89-year-old monarch has flown back to her home in London following a few months at her estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, for the warmer season.
As per protocol, the Royal Standard flag was raised, in place of the Union Jack, above the residence and workplace of the monarch to mark her return to the English capital.
The Queen took a brief break from her summer holiday on September 9 in order to officially open the Borders Railway in Tweedbank, Scotland, despite saying the milestone was not one to which she has ever "aspired."
She also made a brief return to London the month before to mark the 70th anniversary of Victory Over Japan (VJ) Day on August 15 before swiftly returning to her lavish castle.
Meanwhile, the royal is set to have her hands full this year as she’s hosting a high-profile Rugby World Cup reception at the Palace next week and welcoming a visit from the Chinese President Xi Jinping on October 20.
Next month she’ll jet across to Malta for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting as well as kicking off preparations for her 90th birthday on April 21.
