Queen Elizabeth jokes about her own mortality in a documentary with Sir David Attenborough.
The 91-year-old royal made a quip about herself during the making of the programme while she and the award-winning TV star were chatting in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.
At one stage during their conversation, Sir David observed that due to the impact of climate change, "there will be all kinds of different trees growing here in another 50 years’ time".
At which point, the Queen replies: "I won’t be here though."
Then, the Queen points out a bent sapling and asks someone who is stood behind the camera: "Is it meant to be like that? Somebody sat on it I think at a garden party."
Earlier this week, meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth bestowed an MBE on Britain’s last surviving Dambuster.
The monarch honoured Squadron Leader George Leonard ‘Johnny’ Johnson during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday (07.11.17) by making him a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE).
George, 95, was part of the Royal Air Force 617 Squadron which conducted a series of raids on German dams during the Second World War.
During the ceremony, Queen Elizabeth told him: "Glad to see the Dambusters are still here."
George is the last surviving Dambuster in Britain, and he is one of only two survivors to take part in bombing raids on the Mohne, Eder and Sorpe dams in Germany.
