Queen Elizabeth critiques Downton Abbey

Queen Elizabeth critiques ‘Downton Abbey’ for fun.

The 89-year-old monarch is a huge fan of the ITV drama series which follows the lives of the upper-class Crawley family and its servants but loves to point out historical inaccuracies.

Brian Hoey, author of ‘At Home With The Queen’ told PEOPLE magazine: "She loves to pick out the mistakes. They do tend to get it right. However, the queen did notice on one episode that there was a young so-called British officer wearing medals which had not been awarded when he was supposed to be alive.

"He was fighting in the First World War and the medals on his chest did not come in until the Second World War."

And it’s not surprising she can spot inaccuracies as Queen Elizabeth used to be a frequent visitor to Highclere Castle in Berkshire, where the show is filmed, as she was a close friend of the seventh earl until his death in 2001.

Along with a love of ‘Downton Abbey, the queen is also believed to be a fan of ‘EastEnders’, ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ , ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ and ‘The X Factor’.

Indeed, she reportedly told former contestant Mary Byrne that she never misses an episode of Simon Cowell’s pop star search show.
