Purple Hearts star Sofia Carson drops heartbreaking ballad Joke’s On Me

Sofia Carson has shared the heartbreaking ballad ‘Joke’s On Me’.

The 30-year-old singer and actress – who released her acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2022 – says every inch of the song carries “the beating of my heart” and that it was penned after a “sleepless night”.

She told fans on Facebook: “This song was born from the depths of my heart, one sleepless night many months ago…Every word. Every melody. Carry the beating of my heart. And now, it belongs to you.”

Earlier this year, the former Disney star – who has earned 2.2 billion streams for her solo music with 1.2 billion streams coming from her 2022 debut album and the acclaimed ‘Purple Hearts’ soundtrack releases – dropped the heartfelt song ‘I Hope You Know’.

Sofia starred alongside Nicholas Galtizine in the Netflix musical rom-com about aspiring singer-songwriter Cassie (Sofia) and a Marine named Luke (Nicholas), who agree to get married in order to receive military benefits and pay their debts.

Sofia previously admitted she would love there to be a sequel.

She told Variety: “Now fans have kind of been demanding a sequel and there’s so many fan theories and fan stories and potential spinoffs, so of course it’s lovely to think of a life for Cassie and Luke beyond this film.

“I adore being Cassie and I’d be curious to see where it goes. Who knows. You never know!”

Director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum also admitted it’s possible.

She said: “I mean, I could watch the two of them and their chemistry all day. And they’re just great people to work with, so I definitely won’t rule it out.”

However, she added: “I wouldn’t do anything unless we really, really loved it, because we want to stay true to the integrity. We haven’t landed on anything specific yet. It’s always a possibility.”

Stream ‘Joke’s On Me’ on all major platforms now.
