Prue Leith says she’s developed a ‘thick skin’

Prue Leith has developed a "thick skin" since starring on ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
The 80-year-old restaurateur was inundated with nasty comments on social media after she prematurely revealed that Sophie Faldo had won the hit TV show back in 2017 – and she thinks that experience has made her more resilient.
She reflected: "I did not realise how much of a national treasure it was until I inadvertently tweeted the winner on my first year which was absolutely terrible.
"I had thousands of people saying, ‘You have ruined my life. I feel suicidal.’"
Prue admitted there was "some justification with them being upset as it really mattered to them", but the TV star explained there were a lot of anonymous tweeters who simply decided to attack her on social media.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Of course you want to react and come back and say this is not true but you cannot go back as every single tweet you put in fuels more people to go back in and crucify you.
"You have to develop a very thick skin."
Meanwhile, Prue previously admitted ‘The Great British Bake Off’ is the "easiest job" she’s ever done.
The judge – who joined the programme in 2017 and appears alongside Paul Hollywood – revealed she loves appearing on the hit show because it requires so little preparation and planning.
She said: "I don’t say this too loudly so they want to drop my salary, but the fact is, it is the easiest job I’ve ever done.
"I don’t have to write a script, I don’t have to learn any lines, I don’t have to rehearse anything, I don’t have to make up jokes."
