Prue Leith banned from Dancing on Ice

Prue Leith has been banned from doing ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ star was approached by bosses of the skating show, which is set to return next year following three years off screen, recently as they were keen to get her on the forthcoming line up but, despite her keenness to show off on the rink, her management team told her she wasn’t allowed to do it in case of injury.
She told Daily Star newspaper: "I was asked if I would do ‘Dancing On Ice’. I thought it’d be the perfect way to get fit, lose a lot of weight and learn a new skill. I was actually quite excited, but my team said, ‘Absolutely not’. They told me I was far too old and if I fell over I would break something – and then I thought they were probably right."
However, the 77-year-old restaurateur should have a lot of work on her hands anyway next year as she’s hoping Channel 4 decide to renew her contract for ‘GBBO’.
She said recently: "I’m still hoping Channel 4 will ask me back for the second series. They’ve asked me about timings and schedules but I’ve not seen or heard anything about a contract. It could all change, like ‘The X Factor’."
Prue was hired by Channel 4 earlier this year after Mary Berry – who used to judge alongside Paul Hollywood – announced her decision to leave the show "out of loyalty" to the BBC, who screened the programme since it first launched in 2010, after the broadcaster snatched the rights to the format in a mega-money deal last year.
But Prue has admitted she did reach out to Mary, 82, before she went for the job to find out what it would be like working alongside Paul, 51, on the cooking show.
She said recently: "I did ring Mary up and my first question was, ‘Is he workable with?’ She said, ‘Yes actually. He knows his stuff.’ "
