Princess Diana’s memorial garden to be filled with her favourite flowers

Princess Diana’s garden at Kensington Palace is to be filled with her favourite flowers.
The late royal tragically lost her life when she was involved in a car crash in Paris, France, in 1997, and to mark 20 years since her death, royal gardeners are putting together a display of her favourite flowers including forget-me-nots given to her by her brother.
The gardeners reportedly spoke to friends and family of the late Princess for the commemorative display, which is now open at the former home of the royal where her sons Prince William – along with his wife Duchess Catherine and children Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, 23 months – and Prince Harry now live.
Graham Dillamore, who was head gardener of Kensington Palace’s memorial garden from 1984 to 1992, told the Daily Telegraph newspaper of Princess Diana: "She was incredibly flattering and complimentary about the work that we did.
"I think she appreciated the hard work we put in, she was more worried about us out in the cold and asking are we wrapped up.
"She loved the colours and the brightness [of the garden] … She would ask how we came about picking the colours and getting the colour scheme so we would discuss that.
"She never confessed to being a fantastic gardener, but there were certain colours she liked in the garden – soft pinks, whites, yellow, pastel shades. She used to turn her nose up if I ever put red or deep purple flowers."
The gardens, which are currently open to the public, reportedly weren’t due to bloom until May, but thanks to warm weather over the weekend they have been able to open the memorial early.
A palace spokeswoman said: "It’s bloomed somewhat earlier than we were expecting because of the hot weather. Gardens are always slightly unpredictable but it’s in full bloom. It looks amazing."
The memorial gardens are located at Kensington Palace, and are open and free to the public.
