Princess Diana’s chef remembers the late royal

Princess Diana’s chef has paid a heartwarming tribute to the late royal.
Darren McGrady – who was the princess’ chef for four years – took to Twitter on the 19th anniversary of Diana’s death on Wednesday (31.08.16) to share how on the day she died – in a car accident in Paris in 1997 – he had made dinner for Diana and her sons, Prince William and Harry, only to find her not come home.
Alongside a picture of Diana, he wrote: "19 years ago today I had dinner prepared for a special lady and her boys. She didn’t come home. #RIPPrincessDiana. (sic)"
Darren also said Diana – who was married to Prince Charles – would often come into the kitchen and "vent about things and even told the odd "dirty joke" on occasions, which he found shocking considering she was a member of the royal family.
He told Hello! magazine: "I was always there, so sometimes she’d come in and vent about things she wasn’t happy with. Other times I’d see her just burst into tears and it was like, ‘What do I say? What do I do?’ Other times she told a dirty, risqué joke and you think, ‘I can’t believe Princess Diana just said that!’"
Meanwhile, Darren said that she wasn’t a "strict" parent and was quite flexible about meal times.
He said: "She wasn’t strict at all," said Darren. "She let them be boys, young boys! There was always a battle between her and Nanny. Nanny would say, ‘No, they’re eating their dinner, they’re having cabbage.
"And the Princess would say, ‘No, if they’re with me and they want loaded potato skins and fried chicken then they can have that. And if they don’t eat it and they still want pudding, they can have that too!’ She was much more relaxed than Nanny."
