Prince’s funeral to take place in ‘near future’

Prince’s funeral will take place in the "near future."
The ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker tragically passed away on April 21 and, although his body was released to his family shortly afterwards, his relatives have confirmed that they’re still working on arrangements for him to be laid to rest.
Speaking in a statement released to People.com, the family said: "We would like everyone to know that, contrary to previous and current reports, there has been no memorial, funeral or tribute service for Prince that was organised or authorised by the family or Paisley Park representatives. Together, the family is planning an official memorial service and public event to take place in the near future."
The family have been holding off announcing details of the memorial because they want to make sure they give the legendary star the best send off they possibly can.
The statement added: "Prince and his music influenced so many people that we feel inspired to celebrate his life and legacy in just the right way. We appreciate the public’s patience and have been comforted by your outpouring of love, support and condolences. We look forward to sharing with the world this celebration of our Prince."
Meanwhile, investigations are currently being carried out to determine how the singer died after the autopsy reportedly flagged up that he had the highly-addictive painkiller Percocet, which contains acetaminophen and oxycodone, in his system when he was found dead two weeks ago.
However, it’s not known if the drug, which he was believed to be on to help cope with his hip pain, caused his death.
The week before his death, Prince was rushed to hospital in Moline, Illinois, for a "save shot", which is administered to counteract the effects of opiates, after being taken seriously ill on his private jet on the way back from a gig in Atlanta.
