Prince William to host dinner in support of Royal Marsden Cancer Charity

Britain’s Prince William will host a charity dinner at Windsor Castle on 13 May.

The Duke of Cambridge will welcome a host of A-List stars including Kate Moss, Emma Watson, Mario Testino, Cate Blanchett, Cara Delevingne and Benedict Cumberbatch to the event which is being held in support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

William, 31, is said to be hosting without Duchess Catherine – who was known as Kate Middleton before they wed.

Last November William saw patients go under the knife at the Royal Marsden Hospital after meeting the medical teams led by surgeons Stuart James and Pardeep Kumar.

The patients, a woman in her 60s undergoing breast reconstruction and a man in his 80s having a tumour from his bladder removed, allowed the second-in-line to the British throne to watch their operations, but did not get to meet him beforehand.

The young royal became president of the hospital in 2007, following in the footsteps of his mother, the late Princess Diana, who was president from 1989 until her death in 1997.

Upon taking up the role, the prince said: "The Royal Marsden does an extraordinary job in treating thousands of cancer patients every year. The standards of care and compassion of its staff are unsurpassed in the world.

"Therefore, I am delighted and honoured to become President of the Royal Marsden and will do whatever I can to support its innovative and vital work."nd will do whatever I can to support its innovative and vital work."
