Prince William has Bake Off sympathy

Prince William thinks the ‘Great British Bake Off’ will be "just as good" when it moves channels.
The 34-year-old royal revealed he had tuned into the baking contest – which was announced this week to be leaving the BBC for Channel 4 – and can understand why fans are "distraught" about the changes, which will also see presenting duo Mel & Sue depart the show.
William made his comments as he tried out cake decorating at the Caius House youth club in Wandsworth, South London, on Wednesday (14.09.16).
Referring to one of the show’s judges, he said of his work: "Mary Berry, eat your heart out – look at that."
He then turned to volunteer Patricia Nunoo, 17, and said: "Not quite as elegant as yours, but it’s a start."
He added to the group: "You must be distraught it’s moving, but I’m sure it will be just as good."
The prince – who has children Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, 16 months, with wife Duchess Catherine – admitted his wife has more culinary flair than he does, but he does know his way around the kitchen.
He said: "Catherine is a very good cook. I did a lot of cooking when I was younger but you have to reach a certain level when you can throw stuff in, but I stick rigidly to the recipe."
William spent over an hour touring the facility, which offers training and support in disciplines ranging from music and dance to sport and fitness.
He also clumsily attempted to learn a dance move called The Wave – which saw him raise his arms and try to make a ripple movement from his fingertips, along his arm, and across to his other hand – after watching a display from a group of teenagers.
He laughed at his own efforts but said of the performance: "It’s very cool, if you need an extra back-room dancer give me a shout."
