Prince William and Duchess Catherine to visit university where they first met

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are going on a royal tour of Scotland and their trip will include a visit to the university where they first met.

The trip which starts today (21.05.21) has been billed by Kensington Place as “a trip down memory lane” and will see Prince William and Duchess Catherine – formerly known as Kate Middleton – drop in on the University of St Andrews, 20 years after they first started dating while both were studying there in 2001.

A statement from Kensington Palace said: “Their Royal Highnesses look forward to meeting a wide variety of people across the country, as well as charities and organisations who are doing incredible work on issues such as the environment, mental health, homelessness and addiction.

“Both he and the duchess are very much looking forward to spending time in Scotland, hearing from a wide range of people on the issues they care about, and celebrating individuals who have gone above and beyond to support their communities over the past year.”

The trip, which will run until next Thursday (27.05.21) is the Cambridges first tour of duty since the death of William’s grandfather, The Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away last month at the age of 99.

American singer/songwriter Laura Warshauer recently said the chemistry between William, 38, and his 39-year-old wife was apparent from the start as the future British monarch was “always paying attention” to his future wife whenever she was in the room.

Laura, who hails from New Jersey, told PEOPLE: “Whenever Kate was in the room, Will was obviously paying attention to her.

“When we’d be sitting at lunch in the dining hall and the two of them would be talking, it was amazing to see how natural it was, how they had so much to say to each other.

“Looking back, there were all these small moments—certainly moments where I was like, ‘Wow, this could really be something.'”
