Prince William and Duchess Catherine to bond with foreign royals

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, are set to "build a strong relationship" with the royal families in Sweden and Norway during their trip to the countries this week.
The royal couple are set to embark on their first tour of the European countries this week, where they will be shown around by the native royals who are "of their generation", with the purpose being to strengthen the ties between the countries in the wake of Britain’s decision to leave the European Union.
In Sweden, William, 35, and Catherine, 36, will be accompanied on all but two of their public engagements by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, while in Norway they will be escorted by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
Jason Knauf, communications secretary for the Duke and Duchess, said of the trip: "From our perspective, it’s a chance for Their Royal Highnesses to build a strong relationship with the Royal families of each country, and particularly the Royals of their generation who they will know throughout their lives.
"Those close relationships between countries on a people-to-people level are something that Royal visits are particularly good at highlighting."
According to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, although Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel were among the guests at the Britsh royals’ 2011 wedding – which was held at Westminster Abbey and featured 1,900 guests in total – it is understood the Duke and Duchess do not know them well.
The publication also reports they will have much to discuss with their European counterparts, with each pair sharing a focus in their public work on young people, mental health, entrepreneurship and sport.
They are also likely to bond over their families: the Swedish Royal couple have two young children, while the Norwegians have three, and Prince William and Duchess Catherine are parents to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and are expecting their third this spring.
