Prince turned down collaboration with The Game

Prince turned down a collaboration with The Game because the song contained a "curse word".
The 36-year-old hip-hop star – real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor – was keen to get the late music icon, who was found dead at his Paisley Park estate last Thursday (21.04.16) at the age of just 57, on the unknown track and the ‘Raspberry Beret’ hitmaker was all for it until he learned the lyrics included one swear word.
The Game explained: "I wanted him to get on a song and he was down to do the song.
"So we met at Doug Morris’ office at Universal a few years back. And he heard the song and it was one curse word in it and he was like ‘Yo, I can’t get on that, it’s got a curse word in it."
The pair never ended up working together on the song and the ‘How We Do’ rapper thinks it is because Prince became a devout Jehovah’s Witness and that Christian faith considers swearing and blasphemy to be sins.
Although he was desperate to work with the pop legend, The Game wasn’t prepared to alter his artistic vision for the song and decided not to change the lyrics.
The hip hop star told website TMZ: "That’s the evolution of people in their lives. You get older, you get wiser. Prince became a Jehovah’s Witness and he cut out all that. So we didn’t do the song because I needed that curse word."
Prince’s stance on the lyrics are a far cry from the music he made throughout the 80s and most of the 90s.
His most famous album ‘Purple Rain’ contains the track ‘Darling Nikki which features lyrics about a woman masturbating and it’s explicit subject matter led to the pressure group Parents Music Resource Center being founded and they successfully campaigned for the use of ‘Parental Advisory’ stickers to be used on albums with certain language.
Prince’s 1980 LP ‘Dirty Mind’ contained the song ‘Head’ about giving oral sex and his 1992 single ‘Sexy MF’ contained the chorus line "you sexy motherf***er" throughout.
