Prince Harry’s tour of Estonia and Italy

Britain’s Prince Harry will embark on three-day official visit to Estonia and Italy which kicks off on May 16.

The 29-year-old royal is set to lay a wreath at the monument to the War of Independence in Freedom Square (Vabaduse väljak) in Estonia today (16.05.14).

He will later attend a reception at the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu), where he will meet Estonian Ministers and MPs as well as wounded veterans who will take part in the Invictus Games, which are for wounded servicemen and women and will be held in London this September.

The flame-haired royal is also set to meet the country’s President, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, when he visits the Estonian Defence Forces and will thank them for their work with British troops in Afghanistan.

In Italy, Harry will attend a number of events commemorating the Allied Campaign in Italy during WWII, focussing on the 70th anniversary of the Battles of Monte Cassino which took place between January – May 1944.

He is also scheduled to lay a wreath on behalf of Queen Elizabeth at the Polish commemoration service before visiting the Abbey of Monte Cassino where he’ll meet wounded Italian veterans.

Later that day, Prince Harry will attend the New Zealand commemoration service at the Cassino Commonwealth War Cemetery and meet New Zealand veterans.

On the final day of the tour he’ll return to the Cassino Commonwealth War Cemetery, south-east of Rome to attend the British Service of Remembrance.

Prince Harry has previously visited Italy on one occasion, privately, and this will be his first visit to Estonia.
