Prince Harry returns to his RAF roots for 75th anniversary celebration

Prince Harry will present a new Colour to the ground fighting force of the RAF to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
The 32-year-old royal will be guest-of-honour when he visits RAF Honington, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, to present the Colour to the RAF Regiment on behalf of The Queen on Thursday (20.07.17).
The RAF Regiment was formed in 1942 and is headquartered at RAF Honington.
The Prince trained at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire and served for 10 years in the Army, and will also meet families of servicemen and women on his visit to RAF Honington.
He will present The Firmin Sword of Peace to the RAF Police, give a short speech after the presentation of the new Queen’s Colour, and will officially open the station medical centre.
The prince will also tour the facilities at the airbase.
His visit will coincide with an afternoon at UK-wide brain injury charity Headway in a separate visit to launch a new Brain Injury Identity Card initiative and will meet brain injury survivors at the centre in Ipswich.
The events are part of Prince Harry’s royal duties to promote key causes, a responsibility he initially shunned in his twenties.
He said previously: "I spent many years kicking my heels and I didn’t want to grow up.
"I felt I wanted out but then decided to stay in and work out a role."
