Prince Harry holds minute’s silence for London terror victims

Prince Harry held a minute’s silence at his charity polo event for the victims of the terror attack in London on Saturday (03.06.17).
The 32-year-old royal was set to take part in the Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup in Singapore on Monday (05.06.17), and before the event started he called for a minute’s silence to be held out of respect to those who lost their lives in the horrific attack.
On Saturday, seven people were killed and a further 49 were injured when attackers drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge before getting out of the vehicle and stabbing several revellers in nearby bars and restaurants, before being shot dead by police.
The announcer at Prince Harry’s polo event said of the silence: "[It is] a mark of respect for all the victims and those affected by the terror attacks in London on Saturday night."
The flame-haired royal was taking part in the polo event in order to raise an estimated £1 million for the charity Sentabale, which supports those suffering from HIV in Lesotho and Botswana.
Meanwhile, Harry’s trip to Singapore – which began on Saturday – has also seen him breaking fast with the local muslims just hours after touching down in the country.
The Prince joined Jamiyah Singapore – also known as Muslim Missionary Society Singapore – for a traditional iftar, the meal eaten by Muslims after sunset during Ramadan, at the organisation’s headquarters at Guillemard Crescent, where he was greeted by 10 kompang players and given a silat demonstration.
Harry also attended an Action for Aids reception at Eden Hall where he met with young people and discussed their battles with mental health, before moving on to the charity polo event.
On Wednesday (07.06.17) Prince Harry will make his way to Sydney, Australia, where he will take part in a range of activities to celebrate the launch of the Invictus Games Sydney 2018.
And as part of Harry’s role as the Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation, he will learn about the preparations for the competition, and meet with participants and their families.
