Prince Harry gifted All Blacks jersey

Britain’s Prince Harry has been given an All Blacks rugby jersey.

The 30-year-old bachelor met with players from the New Zealand team on his last day of his tour of the country, being gifted the shirt while at Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit.

The personalised jersey emblazoned with ‘P Harry’ and featuring the number 15 was given to the prince by player Kevin Mealamu, 36, who described the encounter as "special".

He said: "He was like, ‘Finally, I get one of these!’

"It was pretty special to have him come in."

And the royal visitor was clearly in a good mood for the occasion, as he joked around with rugby captain Jerome Kaino by feigning sympathy for his injured finger.

The Blues player recalled: "The laughter was about my finger injury. He was saying ‘What’s hurt?’ I said ‘My finger’ and he was making baby noises about my finger.

"But also we were talking about the up and coming (rugby) World Cup."

While at the facility, Harry was also given the opportunity to talk to several wheelchair-bound former rugby players who have received treatment at the rehabilitation unit, which is supported by the New Zealand Rugby Foundation.

At the end of his visit, the prince was given another gift of two watercolour paintings completed by patients at the spinal unit, which he praised as "amazing".

Prince Harry is set to return to the UK on Saturday (16.05.15).
