Prince Harry congratulates Queen’s Young Leaders winners

Prince Harry has congratulated the winners of the Queen’s Young Leaders programme.
The 33-year-old royal paid tribute to the youngsters who have been recognised for the work they have done across a range of issues, including supporting people living with mental health problems, helping children to receive a quality education, and promoting gender equality, around the world.
In a special video message to the 61 successful Young Leaders announced today (05.12.17), he said: "This award recognises the enormous effort and courage of these inspiring young people who are tackling some of the Commonwealth’s most pressing challenges and inspiring others to realise their full potential.
"What has always struck me about these young people is their humble but passionate determination to make life better for their communities. They really are transforming the lives of those around them, and in some cases far beyond that."
Harry – who got engaged to Meghan Markle last week – also called on people to take inspiration from the Young Leaders’ actions, and wished them luck for their futures.
He added: "If more of us follow their example we can make our communities, countries and the Commonwealth a better place.
"Embrace this opportunity ahead of you, and enjoy it, you really are changing lives.
"So good luck and congratulations."
Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth will present the Young Leaders with their awards in a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace next year.
The programme was established by the Diamond Jubilee Trust in 2014 in partnership with Comic Relief, The Royal Commonwealth Society and the University of Cambridge in recognition of the queen’s lifetime of service to the Commonwealth.
