Prince Edward to visit Ghana

Britain’s Prince Edward is set to visit Ghana.
The 52-year-old royal – the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip – will take a trip to the country in West Africa next week for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, which is aimed at rewarding and awarding Ghanaian youths who have had a positive impact on society.
Speaking to StarrFMonline.com com, the Executive Director of the awards scheme Peter Akai Anum said: "It is meant to challenge young people to develop themselves to be responsible adults. It’s a learning process that young people go through to develop their talents, gives them the opportunity to give back to society.
"They get to be involved in some physical activity so they learn competencies such as team work and perseverance. The award is also intended to teach young people to survive and see life in different perspective.
"All sectors of the youth are going to be recognised. Those in the formal and sector, those in and out of school, marginalised and vulnerable all are going to participate."
Meanwhile, Prince Philip – who set up the awards in 1956 – threw a garden party at Buckingham Palace, London, earlier this week to mark it the programme’s 60th anniversary.
The 94-year-old royal was joined by 60 celebrities – including Ronan Keating and Ben Cohen – on Monday (16.05.16) at the London residence of the reigning monarch where he dished out badges and certificates to the Gold winners.
