Prince Charles sends condolences to Hurricane Irma victims

Prince Charles has been "deeply saddened" by the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma.
The natural disaster caused untold damage various Caribbean islands including Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, and the Turks and Caicos Islands when it tore through their land earlier this month before making its way to the US state of Florida.
And the 68-year-old royal – alongside his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall – has now sent his condolences to those affected by the tragedy, saying his "heart goes out" to all those involved in the destruction.
He said in a statement published to the Prince of Wales website: "My wife and I were so deeply saddened to hear of the dreadful loss of life and utter devastation caused by the recent catastrophic hurricane, Irma. We wanted you to know just how much our hearts go out to all those who have been so cruelly bereaved or injured, or whose homes have been destroyed."
Charles’ statement comes just days after his mother Queen Elizabeth released a similar message of condolence aimed at the President of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto, whose country was recently hit by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake.
She wrote: "I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and the devastation following the terrible earthquake yesterday in Mexico.
"That it happened so soon after the powerful earthquake that hit southern Mexico less than two weeks ago is all the more concerning.
"Prince Philip and I send our sincere condolences to the victims of this disaster, to those who have lost loved ones, and to those who have seen their homes and property destroyed.
"My thoughts and prayers are with those affected.
"Elizabeth R."
Meanwhile, celebrities such as actress Salma Hayek and Formula 1 racer Sergio Perez have donated generously to charities aimed at helping those who have been affected by the disaster in Mexico, whilst singer Shakira has urged her fans to give what they can to the cause.
