Prince Charles returning to Somerset

Britain’s Prince Charles is to return to Somerset to meet with flood victims today (08.07.14).

The 65-year-old royal will visit the flood-hit village of Muchelney, on the Somerset Levels in south west England, five months after his first trip in February, to see how it is recovering, ITV News reports.

Charles will meet with local people and businesses affected by the flooding, which was so bad that the royal had to travel using an emergency boat service and a tractor during his last visit.

The prince will also visit Glastonbury Abbey and Castle Cary train station to see how the tourism has been affected by the floods.

During his first visit to the Muchelney, the royal criticised relief efforts for taking so long to alleviate the effects of the flooding.

He said: "There’s nothing like a jolly good disaster to get people to start doing something. The tragedy is that nothing happened for so long."

Charles added that he "feels very sorry for all the people affected by the flooding".
