Prince Charles announced as Patron of WJR

Britain’s Prince Charles has become the Patron of World Jewish Relief.

Following 12 years of work with the WJR, the 66-year-old heir to the throne has now become the Patron, in a culmination of all the work he’s done for the charity.

A spokesperson for the WJR said: "We are enormously proud to announce that His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales has become the

Patron of World Jewish Relief. The support of His Royal Highness demonstrates the close connection between the Royal Family, World Jewish Relief and the UK Jewish community."

Charles was previously a patron of WJR’s project to build a community centre in Krakow, Poland, which he conceived following his visit to the region in 2008, and builds on the prince’s personal commitment to a WJR development project in Ukraine, the Wohl Livelihood Development Programme, which has helped train over 2,000 people so they have the skills they need to get back into work and bring their families out of poverty.

The spokesperson added: "His Patronage is for our full range of work, giving a ringing endorsement to our projects combating poverty amongst the world’s most vulnerable Jewish communities and reaching beyond the Jewish communities, particularly at times of natural disasters.

"We are incredibly grateful to World Jewish Relief’s Life Vice-President, Nigel Layton, who was instrumental in securing the Patronage of The Prince of Wales."
