A policeman who was escorting Britain’s Prince William is in hospital after being thrown from his motorbike during a collision with a taxi.
The officer was riding in a motorcade accompanying the Duke of Cambridge to Kensington Palace following a visit to a cancer unit in Sutton, south London when the accident took place.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at 12.52pm on Wednesday to Trinity Road, SW18.
"A police motorcyclist was in collision with a car.
"The office was taken to hospital. His injuries are not life threatening."
While the policeman in question was taken to hospital, photographs of the aftermath of the accident show pieces of the motorbike scattered across the road in Wandsworth while a smashed taxi can be see parked nearby.
The bike is said to have narrowly avoided hitting a digger in a nearby garden according to the Wandsworth Guardian newspaper.
Prince William, 33, wound down his window to check on the policeman but the car quickly moved on, according to The Sun newspaper.
