Poldark vicar Christian Brassington apologises for character’s antics

Christian Brassington has apologised to ‘Poldark’ viewers for what’s to come from his vile character.
The 35-year-old actor plays Reverend Ossie Whitworth in the hugely popular BBC period drama, and he has admitted fans disgusted by the vicar’s actions are only going to get more uncomfortable.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "My message to fans is … I’m so, so sorry. I think they will be repulsed even more by his behaviour."
Viewers have already been shocked by Whitworth, who has – since last year’s series – raped his wife Morwenna (Ellise Chappell), and is currently seen on the programme paying for sexual favours from her teenage sister Rowella (Esme Coy).
On Sunday (01.07.18), in bleak scenes, he will be seen plotting to get his wife locked away because she won’t make love to him.
Meeting with Dr. Dwight Enys as part of his ploy, he makes claims about her "melancholy" behaviour and "delusions".
In this weekend’s episode, the character says: "Of late I have noticed a stark deterioration in her behaviour, a profound melancholy and she suffers increasingly from the most alarming delusions and she continues to refuse me my conjugal rights.
"She is beyond help and would be better off in an institution."
The doctor replies: "An asylum? As her husband you are entitled to have her put away but why would you wish to?"
Despite their disdain for the character, viewers and critics are still impressed with the show, which has been nominated for Best Drama Series at the TV Choice Awards, while Aidan Turner is up for Best Actor for his leading role as Ross Poldark.
