Piers Morgan to miss Good Morning Britain after being tested for coronavirus

Piers Morgan is set to miss ‘Good Morning Britain’ tomorrow (04.05.20) after being tested for coronavirus.
The television presenter and journalist has developed a "mild symptom" of the virus in the last 48 hours and "out of an abundance of caution", he has been tested for the virus and won’t be at work until he finds out whether he has contracted it or not.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "UPDATE: On medical advice, and out of an abundance of caution for a mild symptom that arose in past 48hrs, I’ve had a test for COVID-19 and so won’t be working on @GMB until I get the result back, which should be tomorrow. (sic)"
Ben Shephard will now host Monday’s edition of the show alongside Susanna Reid.
Before the pandemic, Piers had been fronting the ITV breakfast show from Mondays to Wednesdays, but moved to Thursday aswell to make it four days a week on air.
Piers announced the news on Twitter last month in response to a fan who had praised his work covering the coronavirus pandemic on the show.
He tweeted: "Thanks Tris, I’ll actually be doing 4 days a week (Mon-Thurs) on @GMB for the foreseeable future, starting tomorrow."
He later added: "UPDATE: On tomorrow’s @GMB we’ll have man of the moment @captaintommoore, @KathJenkins singing We’ll Meet Again live… and @MattHancock. Oh, and me. I’m now doing Thursdays too – which I’m sure the Health Secretary will be especially pleased to learn.(sic)"
And Piers admitted on Thursday’s show that it felt "weird" to be back in his seat.
Opening the show, he said: "It’s therapeutic Thursday … but not any more."
Co-host Susanna Reid added: "You’ve taken over Thursdays."
Piers shared: "It’s weird being here, I don’t know what’s going on.
"It’s nice to be here. Came in, everyone’s offering me cupcakes and hugs, being nice to each other … not any more."
