Piers Morgan announces new book about ‘war on free speech’

Piers Morgan is releasing a new book about the "war on free speech".

The 55-year-old star has announced his upcoming book ‘Wake Up’ – which will be released on October 15 in hardback, ebook and an audiobook version – and it is now available to pre-order.

In a tweet on Thursday (16.07.20), he said: "BREAKING: I’m delighted to announce my new book: ‘WAKE UP – Why the ‘liberal’ war on free speech is even more dangerous than Covid-19.’

"Out on October 15th in hardback, ebook & audiobook read by me."

Piers had previously teased a "big announcement" and told his Twitter followers to "watch this space".

The cryptic tweet led to some speculation he could even be quitting ‘Good Morning Britain’ – or landing a new contract on the ITV show – but the presenter poked fun at the rumours.

He added: "UPDATE: No, I’m not Ghislaine Maxwell’s secret husband, nor am I transitioning, providing Bitcoin advice, quitting GMB, going vegan or replacing Jofra Archer in the Test match.

"All will be revealed at high noon."

The book – which is being published by Harper Collins – promises a "rallying cry" for unity and "freedom of speech" while addressing the changing world amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The synopsis reads: "’Wake Up’ is Piers’ rallying cry for a united future.

"He makes the case that a new type of ‘liberalism’ has emerged that is not only fundamentally illiberal, but also deeply flawed. ‘Wake Up’ is a plea for a return to true liberalism, where freedom of speech is king.

"Above all, it’s a powerful account of how the world has finally started to wake up, and why it mustn’t go back to sleep again."
