Phoebe Bridgers has postponed her intimate UK shows this week after being struck down with appendicitis.
The musician played two concerts in celebration of her latest album Lost Weekend at London’s Union Chapel on Monday (17.08.26), her 32nd birthday, but has since been forced to scrap shows in Kingston, Brighton and Bristol.
Alongside a snap from her hospital bed, she wrote on her Instagram Story on Wednesday (19.08.26): “I got appendicitis for my birthday.
“Everything in the UK this week will have to move but I’ll make it up to you!!!!”
Appendicitis occurs when the appendix becomes inflamed, filled with pus, and potentially infected. It can often require urgent surgery.
Later this year, the Garden Song singer will play London’s O2 Arena, Birmingham’s Utilita Arena, Manchester’s Co-op Live, and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro as part of the UK leg of Lost Tour, which is also heading to North America next month.
Taylor Swift recently showered Phoebe with praise, calling Lost Weekend “an absolute triumph in every way”.
The pop superstar, 36, took to Instagram to celebrate both the record’s release and Phoebe’s birthday, telling fans she hasn’t been able to “stop listening” since the album dropped last week.
She wrote on her Instagram Story: “It’s her birthday but she gave us a gift.
“This album is an absolute triumph in every way.”
Taylor also highlighted Phoebe’s ability to write candidly about grief, saying she admires the vulnerability and detail in her songwriting.
She posted: “To write about grief with such vulnerability and detail, and to trust the listener with this much honesty. Happy bday @phoebebridgers I love you!! (sic)”
Lost Weekend marks Phoebe’s first solo album since 2020’s Punisher, a gap she recently addressed during a fan Q+A.
The singer admitted the long break wasn’t always easy, explaining that her creative energy came in unpredictable waves.
She said she repeatedly booked studio time only to postpone it, eventually working in sporadic bursts over several years.
Phoebe told fans: “I really wanted to be making something.
“So I just started going in and then taking six months off and then going back. So this album took forever. Which is great!”
