Pharrell Williams plays intimate gig

Pharrell Williams performed for just 600 fans last night (24.06.14).

The ‘Happy’ hitmaker treated lucky competition winners to an hour-long set that encompassed his career as both a performer and producer at the Brooklyn Bowl at London’s O2.

Pharrell was backed by a female dance troupe and opened with Daft Punk’s ‘Lose Yourself to Dance’ – a message the excitable audience were happy to comply with.

As well as solo tracks including ‘Happy’ – which closed the performance – and ‘Marilyn Monroe’, the 41-year-old star also performed Snoop Dogg’s ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’, Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ and Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’, all of which he performed on as a guest artist. He also covered tracks which he produced, including Nelly’s Hot in Here’ and Gwen Stefani’s ‘Hollaback Girl’.

The gig was part of MasterCard’s Priceless Gigs series, which brings music fans closer to their idols.

Shaun Springer, Head of Brand and Sponsorship, MasterCard UK & Ireland comments: "Our Priceless Gigs series is about creating priceless experiences that connect MasterCard cardholders to the things they love in new and surprising ways. Pharrell delivered an amazing set making for an unforgettable night."
