Peter Kay is to air two new episodes of ‘Car Share’.
The 44-year-old comedian has sparked hopes of a TV comeback after it was revealed ‘Peter Kay’s Car Share Unscripted’, which features the funnyman and co-star Sian Gibson making up the dialogue for their supermarket worker characters John and Kayleigh on their daily commute, will air on Monday (07.05.18).
Peter – who had to cancel his live tour dates last year due to "unforeseen family circumstances" – said: "We just reacted to whatever came on the radio and just went with it, good or bad. We hope people like it."
Sian added: "We were always laughing, and nearly all of the laughter you see in ‘Car Share’ is completely genuine.
"Peter knows how to make me laugh with just a look."
The final episode of the popular sitcom will air on May 28.
This news comes after Peter made a surprise appearance at a charity screening of ‘Car Share’ at the Blackpool Opera House last month to introduce a screening of the show’s finale, and he pleaded with fans not to spoil the story.
He said: "Thank you very much for supporting the Lily Foundation raising money for mitochondrial disease. Very kind of you. I appreciate it.
"Enjoy the last ever episode of ‘Car Share’. Don’t tell anyone the end. Or tell anyone about any hedgehogs.
"So thank you. Lots of love, enjoy, take care, bye-bye."
Peter’s appearance was his first in public since he tweeted a statement in December to announce the cancellation of his stand-up tour.
He wrote: "Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects. This includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance for Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.
"My sincerest apologies. The decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand that my family must always come first. I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media. I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again, I’m very sorry."
