Peter Hook and The Light have announced a massive world tour for next year.
The veteran rocker and his band will perform the ‘Substance’ albums by Joy Division and New Order in full at the gigs, which kick off at the Opera House in Wellington, New Zealand on May 16 before heading to Australia. The North American leg begins in August in Toronto, Canada taking in cities including Boston, Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle before heading to the UK and Ireland in October and November.
Announcing the tour on Instagram, a message from the band read: “We are delighted to announce the return of our ‘Substance’ live show to North America, the UK Ireland from August to November of 2024.
“We will perform both Joy Division New Order ‘Substance’ LPs live and in their entirety at each show, alongside selected extra ‘Substance’ era tracks.”
Hook added in a statement: “It still amazes me how enjoyable it is to play the ‘Substance’ LPs. The contrast between Joy Division and New Order is very apparent but both complement each other very well. My only frustration is not being able to play more of our records each night. I am totally looking forward to the next phase. So, let’s enjoy some Substance and get ready for the future. Lots of love, Hooky.”
Hook released ‘Substance’ as a collection of New Order’s single in 1987 and it was following by the Joy Division singles compilation of the same name in 1988.
The tour concludes in Galway, Ireland on November 16.
