Peter Andre urged son Junior Andre to not rush into becoming a musician

Peter Andre encouraged his son Junior not to rush into becoming a musician.

Junior was aged 17 when he released his debut single, Slide, in 2022 – which topped the UK iTunes chart – and although Peter was proud of his son’s early chart success and supported Junior in building on that, Peter reminded him of the importance of enjoying life as a teenager.

Peter – who revealed that his now 20-year-old son has been working on “amazing” new music, three years since his last track, Only One – told The Sun: “He’s got some great songs he’s working on.

“One of the things I said to him, I said, ‘Yes, you want to be a music artist, and yes, you’ve done a couple of songs, and they’ve done really well, but you’ve still got to be a teenager.'”

Peter – who shot to fame in the mid-1990s and quickly became a major pop star in the UK following the release of his 1996 hit single, Mysterious Girl – added: “And I remember at 18, I just didn’t want him to just fall into this world that was so crazy and not have actually just experienced being a kid.

“And he’s in a relationship. He’s very happy, obviously. He can tell you all that side of it. But he’s been able to really take his time to do it and do it when he’s ready. I said to him, ‘Don’t rush it, son.'”

Peter – who has Junior and daughter Princess, 18, with his 47-year-old ex-wife, model Katie Price, as well as daughters Amelia, 11, and Arabella, 20 months, and son Theo, nine, with his 36-year-old spouse, Dr. Emily MacDonagh – said family was a vital element for his latest single, Rock U Right.

Peter – whose new track appears on his April 2026 album, Legacy, for which he has recorded three new songs, as well as reworked 10 of his classic tracks – said: “I don’t try and sit there and go, ‘can you listen to this?’

“I just know that they’re hearing it when I’m recording it and when I’m writing it. If I hear them singing it in the kitchen or something, I’m thinking, ‘OK, we’re on to something.’

“My son, Theo, he’s such a huge MJ fan. So as soon as he heard this song, he heard the elements, you know, because obviously it’s a nod.

“I wrote it as a nod to the music that I loved. And so he loves it. Immediately, he loves it.

“Junior loves it because Junior’s saying, ‘I’m so glad you’re not trying to sound like a brand new artist.'”

And Peter’s children may feature on his new album – which already features the likes of Brian McKnight, 56, Montell Jordan, 57, Lady Leshurr, 38, and 39 year old Oritse Williams.

He teased: “I really want them all to fly on their own. But what I will say is that on this album, there’s a couple of surprises that nobody’s going to know until they hear the album.

“And what will be interesting for me is people to comment and go, ‘hang on. Is that?’ If that makes sense.

“So there’s a few little surprises on it. But yeah, I think I do like to sort of let everyone do their own thing.”
