Pet Shop Boys set for special performance with orchestra at MTV EMAs

Pet Shop Boys are set for a special performance with the Manchester Camerata at the MTV EMAs 2024.

The ’80s synth-pop duo – comprising Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe – will be bestowed with the Pop Pioneers Award as they mark 40 years in music at the star-studded bash at Manchester’s Co-Op Live arena on November 10, and they will also take to the stage alongside the acclaimed local orchestra.

VMAs-winning K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM – comprising Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha and Hong Eunchae – ‘Water’ hitmaker Tyla and Mexican superstar Peso Pluma have also just been confirmed to perform.

They join ‘Beautiful Things’ hitmaker Benson Boone, ‘Escapism’ hitmaker RAYE, pop star Shawn Mendes, ‘Lose Control’ hitmaker Teddy Swims, and rising rock group The Warning.

Taylor Swift leads with seven nods while Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX and Sabrina Carpenter earned five nominations apiece.

Last week, Rita Ora was confirmed as the host of the ceremony following a report that claimed she is poised to pay tribute to her ‘For You’ hitmaker Liam Payne, following his tragic passing on October 16 at the age of 31.

She said: “I’m over the moon that I get to be back with my MTV family hosting the EMAs for the third time! The EMAs stage has become like another home for me, and this year’s show in Manchester is going to be absolutely incredible! We’ve got an amazing lineup of music performances and plenty of surprises in store. We’re all ‘mad fer it!’”

The 2024 MTV EMAs will broadcast at 9pm GMT Sunday 10th November on MTV UK, Channel 5 and Pluto TV, and will be available on demand on Paramount+ from 12th November.
