Paul Chuckle keen for Coronation Street cameo

Paul Chuckle would love a cameo on ‘Coronation Street’.

The ‘ChuckleVision’ veteran – whose real name is Paul Elliott – has been a fan of the iconic ITV soap since it first aired in 1960, and he has always wanted to pop in for a drink at the Rovers Return pub.

Speaking to Colson Smith during the finale of the ‘Corrie Good News’ YouTube show, he said: "Do you know, I’ve watched ‘Coronation Street’ right from the start, when it was in black and white.

"One thing I’ve always wanted to do is to be there, to come into the Rovers Return and buy a pint – a real one, on the telly."

Responding to Paul’s request during the 10th and final edition of the web show, the soap star – who has played Craig Tinker on ‘Corrie’ since 2011 – hinted he would be able to pull some strings.

He promised: "Paul Chuckle, as soon as lockdown is over give me a call and we will get to the Rovers and we’ll have that beer."

Colson also commented on the soap’s return as the cast and crew resumed filming this month – and he admitted lockdown has caused some continuity issues for bosses.

The actor – who has slimmed down during the coronavirus pandemic, and now sports bleach blonde hair – added: "They are working really hard on joining the dots on the way people look before and after lockdown.

"For the more extreme cases, our scriptwriters are adding in bits to the script where people comment on other people’s new looks.

"I’m hoping someone’s gonna say something about my hair. On a serious note for me, I’ve always seen Craig as clean shaven and ginger. So this [stubble and hair dye] will go."
