Patrick Stewart hints Wolverine 3 is end for Xavier

Sir Patrick Stewart has hinted the upcoming ‘Wolverine’ movie will be his last as Professor Charles Xavier.
The 76-year-old actor is to reprise his role as the former X-Men leader in the forthcoming film, which is as yet untitled, and he is expecting to put the brakes on his alter-ego’s wheelchair after that, despite admitting you can "never say never" about a return.
When asked if the motion picture would be his last as Xavier – who he first portrayed in 2000’s ‘X-Men’ – he said: "I can’t say because I don’t know, but I would imagine this is probably the end of this franchise for me.
"But the thing about science fiction and fantasy is that you can never, ever say it’s the end, it’s over."
The star recalled his character was killed off in the third ‘X-Men’ movie, ‘The Last Stand’, only to return for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ in 2014.
He said: "Jean Grey vaporised me, from which you would think there would be no return.
But watch out! In March, I’m going to be back on the screen again."
While Stewart will be in the upcoming Wolverine movie, he teased Xavier will be "nothing like" how fans have seen him before.
Speaking to ITV News, he added: "A very different Charles Xavier, that’s all I’m allowed to say. Nothing like the Charles Xavier you’ve seen in the past."
Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as the titular mutant in the upcoming third ‘Wolverine’ movie and he recently confirmed the film will be his last outing as the clawed character, who he first portrayed in 2000’s ‘X-Men’.
He said: "It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.
"I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out."
