Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley ‘always had a spark’

Patrick Kielty says there was "always" a "spark" between him and Cat Deeley.

The 44-year-old comedian-turned-presenter married the ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ host in 2012 despite meeting 10 years earlier but he’s now insisted they always had chemistry.

He said: "There was always a little bit of a spark between us but either she was with someone or I was with someone and by the time we were both single she was in America. It was always one of those things that never worked out.

"Women tend to be in charge and we men just have to get on the pitch, stand on the leg that’s shaking most and not drop the ball when it comes our way."

The couple – who met while presenting the talent show ‘Fame Academy’ together – don’t like to plan too far ahead as they like to spend as much time together as possible.

Patrick explained to Radio Times magazine: "The longest we’ve been apart is two weeks. We only plan two or three months in advance, because we want to be together – it’s a nice way to live."

Patrick also claimed that while they’d be thrilled if they were to have children, they’re in no rush.

He added: "Will you have kids… will this happen if you get this job… I tend to find with all things in life now, I am not a planner. If we’re lucky enough to have kids… all that stuff’s down the road. We’re just taking it a step at a time."
