Paris Hilton wanted to ‘die’ after sex tape leak

Paris Hilton wanted to "die" after her sex tape was leaked online.
The 37-year-old socialite may have the erotic video called ‘1 Night in Paris’ to thank for thrusting her into the limelight in 2004, but she has admitted she was mortified when she found out the private footage – featuring her and her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon getting intimate – ended up on a porn site and she compared it to "rape."
Speaking in an upcoming documentary ‘The American Meme’, according to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, Paris explained: "It was like being raped.
"It felt like I’ve lost part of my soul and been talked about in such cruel and mean ways. I literally wanted to die at some points. I was like, ‘I just don’t want to live. Because I thought everything was taken away from me. I didn’t want to be known as that. I would never be who I could have been."
The blonde beauty has always maintained that she’s never "made a dime" from the explicit clip, but Rick – who was locked in a bitter legal battle with Paris after the leak – has claimed it has "made millions."
The leak happened around the same time Paris was launching her career as a reality TV star on ‘The Simple Life’, which ran from 2003 until 2007, alongside her best friend Nicole Richie.
Despite claiming "everything had been taken away" from her after the tape was released, Paris went on to try her hand at acting – appearing in ‘Zoolander’ and ‘The Bling Ring’ – and she released a self-titled album in 2006.
Paris – who is worth an estimated £70 million – explained: "I’m constantly travelling – 250 days a year I’m on a plane, in a different country. So it gets really lonely sometimes. I love my fans just as much as they love me. I feel closer with them than I do most people that I know. They’re really like my family.
"I don’t really trust people. I’ve just grown accustomed to being f***ed over. There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not either texting or FaceTiming or emitting with my Little Hiltons [her fans]. I can truly be myself around them. I know they’re not judging me, they’re not trying to use me. They just genuinely love me."
Although she has trust issues, that didn’t stop Paris meeting and falling in love with her fiancé Chris Zylka.
The couple – who got engaged in January during a ski trip – are set to tie the knot later this year.
