Pam St Clement says pal Barbara Windsor is returning to work

Pam St Clement has revealed her friend Dame Barbara Windsor is "doing well" in her battle with Alzheimer’s disease and is returning to work this week.
Pam, 76, and Barbara, 80, became close friends playing legendary soap characters Pat Butcher and Peggy Mitchell on ‘EastEnders’ and Pam opened up on her pal’s condition during an appearance as a guest panellist on ‘Loose Women’ on Wednesday (11.07.18) surprising viewers by revealing she is well enough to do some public appearances.
She said: "She’s doing well, she is actually doing some charity work this week, in fact she may be doing it right now, if she is I hope she watches this on catch-up. So can we all wish Babs the very best and lots of love."
Pam has not had a chance to visit ‘Carry On’ star Barbara since her husband Scott Mitchell went public about his wife’s illness in May, but she will be making a trip to her home in the next few days.
She revealed: "Everybody has been great about Barbara’s condition and very supportive. Scott has been wonderful … Three times I’ve had to change our plans about meeting up. The first time I suddenly discovered I had to do something work-wise, Scott then had to go and see his dad because he’d missed Father’s Day, so he and Babs went off for that, and then I had to cancel last week but I am seeing her in a couple of days."
Pam will be the latest ‘EastEnders’ alumnus to visit Barbara in past few months.
Jake Wood – who plays Max Branning – and Ross Kemp, who played Peggy’s son Grant Mitchell on the BBC One show, both visited her separately.
Ross wen to Barbara’s home in June and revealed she was on good form during the time they spent together.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he shared: "I went round for a cup of tea and I was there for three-and-a-half hours. Her and her husband Scott have been very brave putting it out there and hopefully it will help other people with the same condition be more open about it. What she has done is very brave, she has a great husband in Scott. The more we talk about any issue in our life, the better we are dealing with it. Yeah, I went for a cup of tea. I had five cups of tea and three shortbread biscuits, which I’m not supposed to have on my diet, and I laughed a lot. She has this great ability, when she walks through that front door, she’s ‘on’. It was like seeing my second mum."
