Paloma Faith is favourite to become the new ‘The Voice UK’ coach.
The ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ hitmaker is being lined up to join the judging panel for the BBC One singing competition, following the news former coach Rita Ora has taken up a deal to be a judge on rival ITV show ‘The X Factor’.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Bosses think she would be great.
"They have been impressed by her forthright opinions and love her out-there style."
The 33-year-old musician – who was named Best Female at the BRIT Awards in February – would be following in the footsteps of other solo female stars such as Kylie Minogue and Jessie J, who have previously appeared as coaches on the show.
The ‘Changing’ singer appeared as a guest mentor on the programme back in 2012, but last year revealed she had no plans to join any singing competitions because she wouldn’t be able to take the public criticism of her views.
Confessing she rejected an offer to join ‘The X Factor’ as a judge last year, she said: "I turned it down because I don’t think I’m emotionally equipped to deal with the scrutiny and that level of celebrity that’s not about my music.
"Having people say things like ‘How can she tell that girl she can’t sing? She can’t f**king sing.’ I couldn’t deal with that."
Meanwhile, the other ‘The Voice UK’ coaches Sir Tom Jones, Ricky Wilson and will.i.am are yet to confirm their involvement in the fifth series, which is set to begin filming in October.
