Alexandra Burke wants to be an actress

Alexandra Burke wants to be an actress.
The 25-year-old singer - who shot to fame after winning 'The X Factor' UK in 2008 - has been trying her hand at different things over the past two years to diversify her career but she's now decided to take up theatre classes in a bid to become a Hollywood starlet.
She said: "It's been challenging. It's something that I wouldn't say comes naturally to me. In school, I loved doing singing, dancing and acting. It came naturally to me at 16, I just need to get back on to it so it can be natural again."
The 'Let It Go' hitmaker has already picked her dream leading man to star opposite, 'Mandela: A Long Walk to Freedom' star Idris Elba.
Alexandra has a crush on the 41-year-old actor and dreams of being his co-star.
When asked what her dream role is, she told the Belfast Telegraph newspaper: "Anything that's next to Idris Elba because I love him! He's such a talented young man."

Matt LeBlanc is nothing like his character

Matt LeBlanc is a "little more together" than his on-screen persona.
The 46-year-old actor plays a fictional version of himself in 'Episodes' but admits he is noting like his character in real life.
The former 'Friends' star told Boston Common magazine: "It's a fictitious character, and you just have to approach it that way. He just happens to have the same name I do. When we were coming up with who the character was going to be, I thought it would be fun - since our salaries were all published during 'Friends' - to make this Matt LeBlanc way, way wealthier than me.
"You've got this guy completely oblivious to the consequences of his actions; that's fun to play. And he's really damaged, this lost soul, the Matt LeBlanc on TV."
But he added: "I like to think I have my s**t a little more together than that."
Matt, who has a 10-year-old daughter Marina with his ex-wife Mellissa McKnight, is glad he has regained some anonymity since 'Friends' came to an end in 2004.
Recalling his time on the show, he said: "The weirdest thing was walking into a room, a restaurant, a bar, a movie theatre, anywhere there's a lot of people, and everybody sort of stopping what they're doing and taking notice you're in the room. And they know you, or they think they do - they know your name, they know what you do for a living, they know how much money you make, they know where you're from, but they're all strangers to you."

Katie Holmes wants to be there for Suri Cruise

Katie Holmes tries to be proactive about her health for the sake of her daughter.
The 35-year-old actress, who secured sole custody of Suri Cruise, seven, following her divorce from Tom Cruise in July 2012, is determined "to be there" to watch her daughter grow up.
The brunette beauty, who is teaming up with US department store Kohl's to encourage more women to join the fight against breast cancer, told PEOPLE.com: "I've known a lot of people who have been diagnosed and women tend to take care of everyone else before our own needs. Becoming a parent made me much more aware of my own health. I want to be there for my child for a long time."
The former 'Dawson's Creek' star also opened up about her love of living in New York City and how Manhattan has been "very good" to her and Suri.
She said: "I love the community in New York. I love New Yorkers. I ran into someone on the street the other day that I went to high school with. I love the moments of spontaneity every day."
She added: "New York has been very good to both of us. I love the theatre, the galleries in my neighbourhood. Stuff [like] that is so much of what makes me love this city. I love the Knicks. I love talking to my neighbours in the elevator. I like feeling a part of something big."

Simon Cowell applies for son’s passport

Simon Cowell has applied for his newborn son's passport.
'The X Factor' boss, who plans to divide his time between London and New York City, where his girlfriend Lauren Silverman's eight-year-old son, Adam, lives, accompanied the brunette beauty to a courthouse in Manhattan on Wednesday (19.02.14) to file papers to get a passport for their baby boy Eric, who was born on Friday (14.02.14).
A source told gossip website TMZ.com that both parents were required to be present to file the official government paperwork and Simon is only in the city for a few days.
The 54-year-old star plans to introduce his child to his mother Julie in the UK for the first time, but it is thought that Eric won't board a transatlantic flight for a few more weeks as experts recommend waiting until a newborn is four to six weeks old before taking a baby on an airplane.
Simon previously revealed that he and Lauren, 36, were planning to move back to London soon after Eric's birth, as the star will be working on his ITV series.
Earlier this month, he said: "Lauren knows what my work schedule is so she is cool with that and we will travel a little bit.
"We made the decision to come back to the UK and she wants to live here for a while."

Justin Timberlake cancels sold-out gig

Justin Timberlake cancelled his sold-out concert in New York City on Wednesday night (19.02.14).
The 'Mirrors' hitmaker was forced to pull the plug on his scheduled show at Madison Square Garden, as part of his 20/20 Experience World Tour, at the eleventh hour after coming down with a mystery illness.
Hours before the gig was due to take place, the 33-year-old star announced he wouldn't be performing on Twitter, tweeting: "Hey NY. There is never an easy way to do this... Unfortunately, I have to postpone tonight's show to Friday due to health reasons."
He added: "I am truly sorry to everyone that have tickets for tonight. It kills me to have to do this. I hope to see you all on Friday. JT"
Justin has rescheduled his cancelled concert for Friday (21.02.14), following his second sold-out gig at the venue on Thursday night (20.02.14).
He will also appear on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' on Friday before moving on to perform in Buffalo, New York on Saturday (22.02.14).
The singer gave no indication he was feeling unwell when he took to the stage in Chicago on Tuesday night (18.02.14).
Justin, who is married to 'Total Recall' actress Jessica Biel, kicked off his current tour last November and is due to finish it in Poland in August.

Adam Brody confirms wedding

Adam Brody has confirmed he and Leighton Meester are married.
The 34-year-old actor, who got engaged to the former 'Gossip Girl' beauty in November, secretly tied the knot with the 27-year-old actress by the ocean in Northern California recently.
Asked whether reports of their nuptials were true, the former 'The O.C.' star told TooFab.com: "Yeah. Thank you."
Adam also gave photographers a thumbs-up when asked how his new wife was doing.
Meanwhile, a source close to the couple told E! News that they were desperate to keep their wedding very private and tied the knot "a couple of weeks ago."
The insider said: "Leighton and Adam got married in Northern California by the ocean a couple of weeks ago. It was a very small and intimate wedding with close family and friends. It was beautiful."
The couple were spotted on honeymoon at the St. Regis Resort Punta Mita Resort in Mexico last weekend, where they also celebrated Valentine's Day together on Friday (14.02.14).
Adam and Leighton only started dating last year but first met when they co-starred in romantic-comedy 'The Oranges' in 2011.
Adam was previously romantically linked to Rachel Bilson and 34-year-old director Lorene Scafaria - who helmed Steve Carell and Keira Knightley's comedy drama movie 'Seeking a Friend for the End of the World' - while Leighton has previously dated 'Austin Powers' actor Aaron Himelstein.

Bastille joke about retirement

Bastille have joked they're ready to "retire and work in McDonalds".
The 'Pompeii' hitmakers admit they're so happy to be honoured with the Best British Breakthrough prize at the BRIT Awards, held at London's O2 Arena, tonight (19.02.14) that they could now just give up their careers to work in a fast food restaurant.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, frontman Dan Smith joked: "It's completely unexpected to win Best British Breakthrough. We can now give up music, retire and all go and work in McDonalds like we always dreamed."
The quartet - consisting of Dan, Chris Woody, Kyle Simmons and Will Farquarson - fought off stiff competition from the likes of London Grammar, Disclosure, Laura Mvula and Tom Odell for the prize.
However, the band - who released their debut album 'Bad Blood' in March 2013 - admit they never expected to achieve so much success in just a year and they're really grateful for being able to travel the world and meet their fans.
Dan explained: "It's been a wicked year, it's a year no-one, apart from a couple of people, could have predicted. We've been able to go all over the world, it's been ridiculous."
Bastille had also been nominated for Best British Group, Best British Single for their track 'Pompeii' and Best British Album, but narrowly missed out on the gongs.

Harry Styles almost misses One Direction’s BRIT win

Harry Styles almost missed One Direction receiving a BRIT Award.
The 'Little Things' hitmakers were honoured with the Global Success prize tonight (19.02.14), but the 19-year-old hunk left his bandmates hanging on-stage while he dashed off to the toilet.
Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson were forced to stall time as they waited for the heartthrob to join them.
Quick-thinking Liam, 20, asked the crowd: "Has anyone seen the curly lad? Right, there's four of us now."
He added: "I want to say thank you to our international team, management, the fans."
Then Harry sprinted on stage, snatched the microphone, and said: "I'm really sorry I was having a wee, the toilets are ages away!"
He then whispered to Liam, "what did we win?"
Before adding quickly: "A massive thank you to all our incredible fans. Thank you."
The boyband - who narrowly missed out on British Group and British Single trophies - were presented the award by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at the glamorous event, held at London's O2 Arena.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Liam said: "It's absolutely amazing to win the award, I can't believe we're here again, third time we've been to the BRITs now, our fourth award, it's absolutely incredible. Getting nominated for the first award was amazing, now we're receiving a Global Success Award."
Niall then did an impromptu rap about winning the gongs as Liam became a human beat-box.

The Arctic Monkeys triumphed at the BRIT Awards 2014 after winning two awards.
The band - consisting of Alex Turner, Jamie Cook, Matt Helders and Nick O'Malley - scooped the Best British Group prize and British Album of the Year for their LP 'AM' at the glamorous event, held at London's O2 Arena tonight (19.02.14).
After accepting the award for Best Group - which was presented by Lily Allen - Alex said: "That 15 quid we put on One Direction has gone down the drain. There's a lot of people we need to thank, but they need to hear their names read out as much as you need to hear of people you don't know."
The group fought off stiff competition from the likes of Bastille, Disclosure, One Direction and Rudimental for the gong.
Picking up Best Album later in the night, which saw them become the first band to do the double - win Best British album and Best British group - three times, Alex added: "That rock'n'roll, it looks like it's fading away, but it'll never die."
Meanwhile, David Bowie also won big after securing the Best Male Solo Artist accolade, 30 years on from his first win in 1984, after beating the likes of Jake Bugg, James Blake, John Newman and Tom Odell.
The 67-year-old singer, who is the oldest recipient of an award in the BRITs history - was unable to attend the gala and chose Kate Moss to collect his prize for him.
Ellie Goulding kicked off the night's events after being crowned the Best British Female Artist, before taking to the stage to give an energetic performance of her hit 'Burn'.

Bette Midler performing at Oscars

Bette Midler is set to perform at the Oscars next month.
The 'Wind Beneath My Wings' hitmaker will take to the stage to sing at the awards show in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the first time on March 2.
It is not yet known what song the 68-year-old star, who was nominated twice for Best Actress in the past, will perform at the star-studded ceremony.
But Bette, who has served as a presenter several times in the past, hinted she hasn't decided yet, as she wrote on Twitter on Wednesday (19.02.14): "Now that the news is out, what shall I sing at this years #Oscars? (sic)"
Oscar producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan also convinced Barbra Streisand to sing 'The Way We Were' during a tribute to its late composer, Marvin Hamlisch, last year.
In a statement, they said: "We are thrilled to have Bette perform on the Oscars for the very first time. We believe she will make our Oscar telecast an especially moving evening."
U2 and Pharrell Williams are among the other artists to have agreed to sing at the prestigious event this year.
The Irish rockers will perform their track 'Ordinary Love,' which is nominated for best Original Song, while Pharrell will sing his nominated hit 'Happy' from the film 'Despicable Me 2.'
'Frozen' star Idina Menzel will sing 'Let It Go' from the film and Karen O will sing 'The Moon Song' from the movie 'Her', which are also both nominated in the category.

Julia Roberts’ mother battling lung cancer?

Julia Roberts' mother is reportedly battling lung cancer.
The 'August: Osage County' star - whose half-sister Nancy Motes overdosed and died on February 9, after writing a "ranting" note that allegedly claimed the actress "drove her" to suicide - has "suffered an emotional collapse" following Nancy's death, as she has been secretly caring for Betty Lou Motes at her home in Malibu, California since doctors found a cancerous tumour on her lung during a routine MRI scan in November.
A source told the National Enquirer magazine: "She was already reeling from her mom's cancer crisis. Now, she's been deeply hurt and stung by all the criticism after Nancy's death and feels she doesn't deserve it. Julia insists that Nancy's death was not a suicide."
The insider added that the 46-year-old Oscar-nominated actress "wants to believe that the overdose was accidental, that somehow Nancy expected to be discovered just before she passed away. Julia's been crying her eyes out ever since."
Julia moved Betty, who had a heart attack and angioplasty in 2009, into her home late last year to look after her when she was diagnosed.
The source added: "Everyone was frantic because Betty has a history of smoking and emphysema."

Julianne Hough’s boyfriend feels lucky

Julianne Hough's new boyfriend feels like "a pretty lucky guy."
The 'Safe Haven' actress, who split from Ryan Seacrest last March after three years together, recently started dating Canadian ice-hockey star Brooks Laich after they were introduced by their mutual friend, actor Teddy Sears, in December, and he admits he is completely smitten with the blonde beauty.
The 30-year-old athlete told Washington D.C. radio station 106.7 The Fan on Wednesday (19.02.14) that Teddy, who worked with Julianne on her upcoming film 'Curve' thought they would be the perfect match.
He said: "On set, apparently, he (Teddy) was talking with Julianne, and said he had recently just got married--just got back from his honeymoon--and then asked her if she'd been seeing anyone, and she said no or whatever, and I guess he was watching our hockey game at the time. He always watches the game on Game Center on his iPad. I guess he just showed her the iPad and said, 'Well I've got a guy for you,' or something. I guess that was sort of how it started."
Brooks finally met Julianne a few months later.
He said: "He kept mentioning her name and mentioning her name, eventually we connected. Happy we did. In December, Teddy and Melissa [Teddy Sears' wife] came back for a little wedding reception of theirs, back in D.C. here, and Jules came out with them and I got to meet her at that point."
Asked about their romance, he added: "I don't want to get into a whole lot of it; I'm kind of shy on my personal life. But she's a cool, cool gal. She's just a sweetheart, very loving, very giving. She puts so much great out into the world. I'm a pretty lucky guy."
Meanwhile, a source close to the former 'Dancing with the Stars' professional, 25, told E! News that she is equally taken with her new boyfriend.
The insider said: "He's a very nice guy. She really likes him."
