Lily Allen claims there is a man behind every successful woman in the music industry.
The 28-year-old singer - who recently made her pop comeback following a four-year hiatus - insists the women behind popular male artists never get recognised, but those who produced female artists always become known.
British VOGUE editor Alexandra Shulman, who was interviewed by Lily on Radio 2 during her takeover from presenter Dermot O'Leary, told her: "It's interesting that some of the biggest artists, if not most of them, are women."
Lily added: "You'll also notice, of those big, successful, female artists, there's always a man behind the woman-piece. "Whether it 's Beyonce it's Jay Z, if it's Adele it's Paul Hepworth, with me it was Mark Ronson, same with Amy Winehouse. It's sort of like you never get that with men.
"You can't think of the man behind the man because it's never a conversation which is bought up. If you're Ed Sheeran nobody talks about who produced his music."
Although Lily has strong female views, her new album 'Sheezus' is intended as a tribute to Kanye West, and she insists despite being a parody of his record 'Yeezus' it is nothing more than a sign of "respect".

Tom Hardy couldn't handle Hollywood when he first found fame.
The 36-year-old star - who was catapulted to the spotlight in 2002's sci-fi film 'Star Trek: Nemesis' - hit a low point with alcoholism and drug abuse and insists these past experiences, including the breakdown of his marriage to Sarah Ward in 2004, have helped shape who he is now.
He said: "I've learnt as I grow older to be less 'jumping' at everything. I had a brief stint with the Americans, with Hollywood, the movie industry, with 'Star Trek'. And the first year after drama school, I had 'Black Hawk Down' and 'Band of Brothers', and then 'Star Trek'. And I was like 'this is it! Straight out of drama school, here we go!'
"But I had no idea how to handle the industry, to interact with producers, executive producers, studios, even my fellow men. I was 24 - punching well above my weight! "It's taken being someone's dad, being divorced, going to rehab, having mortgages, playing different characters, doing theatre, waiting and then it not happening."
Tom's perception of the world has changed since he was younger and is more appreciative of the privileges he has.
He added to Total Film magazine: "Now I'm not 'white knuckle', so if I get invited to a party ... the gratitude I feel ... people are really pleasant, really talented, and I'm useful! It's like, 'How can I help and be a part of this?' Rather than 'I must impress everyone!' Which is what it was when I was 24."

Kylie Minogue's relationship with Jason Donovan was "precious".
The 'Neighbours' co-stars - who had a hit in 1988 with duet 'Especially For You' - never confirmed their relationship while dating in the 80s, but Kylie says it "made sense" for them to go out as they were the only people who understood the fame and attention they were experiencing.
She explained: "It started fictional, then we were dating. It was just so normal to us and such a precious thing we never wanted to say we were or we weren't, we kept it hazy.
"It made sense that we were together because it was a crazy time in our lives and we knew what each other was going through, there was that level of understanding."
The pair shot to fame on Australian soap 'Neighbours' playing lovers Charlene Ramsey and Scott Robinson, and despite the popularity of the show, Kylie insists they didn't get much chance to experience the benefits of their success because they were working so hard.
Speaking on Radio 2, she said: "There was maybe a few months after we started I realised we were becoming famous. We worked so much there wasn't much time to experience being famous. As years have gone by and everything has gone digital and paparazzi have gone crazy, it's more difficult. I think if I was in the same situation now, it would be much more difficult."

L'Wren Scott's former maid says she "sacrificed a lot" to be with Sir Mick Jagger.
The fashion designer's tragic death from apparent suicide was discovered in New York this morning (17.03.14), and her former maid, Lupe Montufar - who served L'Wren from 1993 until 2009 - says her 13-year relationship with The Rolling Stones frontman came at a price.
Although she made clear she doesn't know what drove L'Wren to take her own life, Lupe told the New York Daily News newspaper: "She would tell me she wanted to get married and have a family, but she didn't want to get her hopes up or say it out loud to Mick. She didn't want to pressure him.
"She always dreamed about having fame, fortune and money. She had all that in her hands with him.
"She sacrificed a lot to be with him. A few years ago, she thought she'd be with him forever and have a family."
It has emerged that L'Wren's fashion company was in debt at the time of her death, but friends say she was always too headstrong to ask her famous partner for financial help.
Mick, 70, was said to be "completely shocked and devastated" by L'Wren's passing and is thought to be heading from Australia, where he was due to start a tour, to New York.
Lupe, 57, stopped working for L'Wren when she sold her Los Angeles home in 2009 to spent more time in New York and Europe.
She added: "She was very loud and fun when she was young, but with Mick she turned more quiet. She used to yell 'Lupe' in a fun, boisterous voice, but later it was much softer and more reserved. He had her under his spell."

Chris Brown's mother cried as he was sentenced to stay in jail for another month today (17.03.14).
The 'Look at Me Now' singer was transferred to a correctional facility in Los Angeles after he was kicked out of a court ordered rehab centre on Friday (14.03.14), and it has now been ruled he will stay there until a probation violation hearing on April 23.
Chris, 24, was led into court in an orange jumpsuit despite requests from his lawyer that he be allowed to wear civilian clothes.
His mother, Joyce Hawkins, sobbed as the judge ordered he be kept in prison.
During the hearing judge James Brandlin said Chris had been kicked out of rehab after "rubbing elbows" with a female, refusing to take a drug test and making a threat during group therapy, reportedly saying: "I am good at using guns and knives."
Being thrown out of the court-ordered anger management programme - which was extended from an initial three month period, which Chris had completed, in light of his facing further legal problems - was considered to be a violation of his probation.
Chris' legal troubles in Los Angeles stem from the assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
In a separate case, the 'Turn Up the Music' singer also faces a charge of misdemeanour assault in Washington D.C., which will be heard on April 17.

Madonna and Anna Wintour have paid tribute to L'Wren Scott.
The singer and the iconic Vogue editor have joined many in remembering the stylist and fashion designer, who was found dead from apparent suicide at her home in New York this morning (17.03.14).
Anna wrote on Vogue.com: "I am deeply saddened by the loss of L'Wren Scott. L'Wren was a total perfectionist, someone who absolutely embodied everything her marvelous clothes stood for: strength of character combined with a confident and powerful style.
"In person, L'Wren was always unbelievably generous, gracious, kind, and so much fun. Her old world American manners and charm were from another time, but her sensibility was always fiercely modern. We will all miss her."
Expressing her grief at the designer's passing at the age of 49, Madonna said: "This is a horrible and tragic loss. I'm so upset. I loved L'Wren's work and she was always so generous with me."
The tributes comes as pictures have emerged of L'Wren's partner of 13 years, Sir Mick Jagger, just moments after he had been told she had been found dead. The Rolling Stones singer looked visibly distraught as he left Coco's restaurant in Perth, Australia, where he has recently landed with the band to start a tour.
Others to pay tribute include model Naomi Campbell, who said: "I am deeply shocked and devastated by the news.
"L'Wren was someone I knew since I was 17. We travelled the world together many times. L'Wren was someone I always loved. She was the epitome of elegance and femininity yet still had a girlish quality.
"I will miss her honesty and I will miss her friendship. My heart goes out to Mick and all who loved her and were loved by her. May she rest in peace."
Pop singer Lily Allen wrote in Twitter: "I have just got off a plane and heard the sad news of L'Wrens passing. What a terrible tragedy, I'm in shock. I saw her at the hairdressers only the other day."

Prince William claims one baby is "enough at the moment".
The second in line to the British throne says he and his wife, Duchess Catherine, could eventually have another child to join eight-month-old Prince George, but at the moment the toddler is keeping their hands full.
Speaking to Sergeant Major Ray Collister at a Saint Patrick's Day parade in Aldershot, Southern England, today (17.03.14), the prince said: "Maybe one day. One's enough at the moment."
The Sergeant Major added: "He said maybe when there's time."
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their first join public appearance of the year today at the event, where they joined the First Battalion Irish Guards for the third year running.
The prince - who was appointed Colonel of the regiment in 2011 - wore the officer's frock coat of the Guards to take part in the ceremony.
Another soldier who asked about the royal baby was Guardsman Glenn Tierney.
He said: "I asked them all about George, I'm nosey like that. They said he's doing really well and he's very busy crawling and eating."
During the parade, Catherine, 32, presented officers and warrant officers with Shamrocks, the symbol of Ireland, which is a duty traditionally performed by the wife of a senior officer in the regiment.

L'Wren Scott was £3.5 million in debt when she died.
The fashion designer was found in her New York apartment this morning (17.03.14) having apparently taking her own life, leaving her friends, family and partner - The Rolling Stones singer Sir Mick Jagger - devastated.
According to accounts for her business, LS Fashion LTD, which were filed in the UK in October 2013, the company was in trouble, with a deficit of £3,546,000 and the designer owing creditors £4,593,000.
Friends have said the former model - known for her headstrong ways - had always refused financial help from her multi-millionaire partner of 13 years.
Speaking about L'Wren's fashion label, which she started in 2006, a source told MailOnline.co.uk: "L'Wren was in a lot of financial trouble. She was unable to pay her staff and her suppliers and it had been going on for a very long period of time.
"She wanted so badly for things to be a success. Whereas she got her outfits on a number of high profile people, the clothes were not a commercial hit and didn't fly off the shelves. It was a huge burden on her and she didn't want to fail.
"Everyone was very much left wondering why she didn't ask Mick for help. But she didn't. Things were left a long time and she spent the past few months struggling to pay the vast amount of her outgoings. It was a tragic situation and she kept it from everyone.
"Her staff expected the company to go under and her fabric suppliers and tailors were close to ending their working relationship. The bills just weren't getting paid."
A spokesperson for Mick - who is currently on tour in Australia said he is "completely shocked and devastated" by his partner's death.
L'Wren, who is a former model and stylist, had cancelled a show at London Fashion Week in January, saying at the time fabrics arrived too late for samples to be sewn for the event. It is now thought the real reason was her financial difficulties.

Chris Brown was kicked out of rehab for getting too close to a woman.
The 'Fine China' singer spent almost four months at the facility in Malibu, California, and had completed his initial treatment for Anger Management before a judge ordered him back inside until the conclusion of a court case against him in April.
However, Chris was thrown out on Friday (14.03.14) after breaking three "internal rules", one of which was specifically imposed on him, which was to stay at least two feet away from any women.
The rule was made because he is still on probation for his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend, Rihanna, but he broke it by "touching elbows and hands" with a woman.
According to TMZ.com Chris was "also in some sort of sexual encounter with a woman at the facility" earlier this month, but it was not cited as evidence to thrown him out.
Chris - who is thought to be dating Karrueche Tran, who has frequently visited him in rehab - is also said to have initially refused a drug test after an unauthorised outing, and although he did eventually submit to it and the results came back negative, his refusal breached the centre's rules.
The singer's third violation is said to have been when he made a "mockery" of his rehab during a group session.
Chris is currently in a Los Angeles jail, where he is being held without bail. He will appear in court today (17.04.13) where his lawyer is expected to ask for him to be placed under house arrest until his outstanding court case - where he faces charges of an allegedly assaulting a man named Parker Adams in Washington D.C. - is resolved.

Sir Mick Jagger is "completely shocked" by the death of L'Wren Scott.
The Rolling Stones singer was on tour with the band in Australia when he was informed his partner of 13 years has died of an apparent suicide today (17.03.14).
His spokesperson said: "He is completely shocked and devastated by the news."
Fashion designer L'Wren was found hanging from a scarf on a doorknob in her home in Manhattan, New York, by her assistant at around 10 o'clock this morning.
The assistant went to the apartment and let herself in after receiving instructions to do so by text message from L'Wren.
A New York police department spokesperson said: "At approximately 10.05 hours police responded to 200 11th avenue.
"Upon arrival, officers discovered a 49-year-old female, unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency Medical Services also responded and pronounced the aided DOA [Dead On Arrival] at the scene. The investigation is ongoing and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death."
New York Police have also said there is no suspicion of foul play connected to the death, but they are awaiting the examiner's formal report.
L'Wren - a former model, who stands at 6' 3" - had met Mick on a photo shoot in 2001 when she was working as a stylist. They started dating, but didn't appear together publicly until 2005, when they attended the Golden Globes ceremony. In recent years they had divided their time between New York and London - where she has a design studio - and also owned a flat in Paris together.
After years as a successful model and stylist, L'Wren launched her own brand in 2006, which became a favourite of many celebrities, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Obama and Christina Hendricks.

Her fashion career also included designing costumes for films, including 1996's 'Diabolique', 'Ocean's Thirteen', 'Eyes Wide Shut' and 'Shine a Light', a documentary about The Rolling Stones.
