Britain's Prince Harry represented Queen Elizabeth at a memorial service for Nelson Mandela yesterday (03.03.14).
The flame-haired royal was chosen to stand in for his grandmother at London's Westminster Abbey where the service honoured the former South African President, who passed away aged 95 in December.
Harry, 29, joined about 2,000 people, who paid their respects to the iconic leader, including Prime Minister David Cameron, former Prime Ministers Gordon Brown and John Major, actress Joanna Lumley and actor Idris Elba, who played Mandela in the biopic 'Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom'.
The special National Service of Thanksgiving was broadcast by the BBC and also included a speech by South African social rights activist and retired Anglican bishop, Desmond Tutu.
Prince William and Duchess Catherine were attending the royal premiere of Mandela's biopic at the time they learned of his death.
William said: "It's obviously extremely sad and tragic news. We were just reminded of what an extraordinary and inspiring man Nelson Mandela was, and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family."
Prince Charles also released a statement after Mandela's death, saying he had a "real zest for life".
He said: "With his passing, there will be an immense void not only in his family's lives, but also in those of all South Africans."
Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will not meet New Zealand's Maori King because he wanted to see them for longer than the allocated time.
Prince William, Duchess Catherine and their seven-month-old son Prince George will arrive in the country on April 7 as part of a 19-day visit to New Zealand and Australia.
They will visit Wellington, Blenheim and Auckland, among other places, and were set to meet with King Tuheitia at his headquarters, the Turangawaewae marae, but he decided the 90-minute slot would not be long enough.
Prime Minister John Key says there are demands on the royals' time and it was "disappointing" that the offer had been rejected for the king to meet them at the headquarters.
He said: "I think it's a shame he's not going, but that was a decision made solely by King Tuheita's people.
"They were offered a 90-minute slot - that was longer than pretty much any other engagement they have. King Tuheita's people decided it wasn't long enough and on that basis, they rejected him actually attending."
Mr Key said the King's staff told officials at Kensington Palace "if you can't make it longer than 90 minutes, then don't come."
He added: "It's a matter for them to decide their own thing, but in the end [Prince William] has a fairly tight timetable. I would have thought [90 minutes] was quite generous."
Britain's Prince Harry has given his girlfriend Cressida Bonas her own security pass for his Kensington Palace apartment.
The loved-up royal and the blonde beauty are said to be spending more time together and the young prince has taken things to the next step by giving her full access to the exclusive complex in London after being given the green light by royal security guards.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Cressida can often be seen with her overnight bag at Kensington Palace and spends a lot of week nights there.
"Now she is a more regular fixture in Harry's life, security for her has been relaxed somewhat.
"She is very cool about the whole thing - another reason why Harry is mad about her - but it wouldn't surprise anyone if they found a place together very soon."
The source said Cressida, 25, isn't "pushy" and realises dating a prince has it's difficulties but has reportedly told family members she is serious about the 29-year-old royal.
They added: "The next step is living together but there are more hurdles than you'd imagine for that to happen."
The young couple, who have been dating since 2012, spend a lot of time at Kensington Palace and are close to Harry's brother William and wife Catherine who live in a renovated apartment in the complex with their seven-month-old son, Prince George.
Kurt Cobain's former roommate is selling his belongings on the internet.
Items belonging to the Nirvana frontman, who committed suicide and was found dead in his home in Seattle, Washington in 1994, are being sold on Craigslist by a man claiming to have lived with the star in Capitol Hill in Washington.
Kurt's belongings include skis, a phone and video game, which range between $25 and $80, and the old roommate had kept hold of them for a number of years.
He wrote on the site: "I have been holding on to a bunch of stuff that he left in a box when he moved out.
"He owed us rent and said he would get the box when he came back and gave us the money but he never came back, then when he was famous he never really talked to any of us again because Courtney [Love] never liked us."
But the roommate, who was a bass player in Seattle rock band Gruntruck, insists he's not a fan of the Hole singer, who was married to Kurt, so there are "no hard feelings" and he plans to sell more of the star's belongings.
He added: "i also have a lot more stuff of kurts, like magazine and clothes that i will be selling off soon. thank you for looking (sic)."
Meanwhile, a weeping statue of Kurt was unveiled in Aberdeen in Washington last month, the star's hometown.
The city celebrated Kurt Cobain Day on February 20, which would have been the singer's 47th birthday.

Matthew McConaughey told his wife he wanted to make another baby after the Oscars on Sunday (02.03.14).
The 44-year-old actor picked up the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in 'Dallas Buyers Club', but instead of planning a night of fun at the afterparty, he told his wife Camila Alves - with who he has five-year-old Levi, four-year-old Vida and 14-month-old Livingston - he wanted to enjoy some intimate celebrations.
He was reportedly overheard telling her: "We won't stay at the afterparty long - I want to go home and make another baby!"
A source added to The Sun newspaper: "Matthew wasn't worried about getting drunk, he was more keen to get home with his beautiful wife, which he made quite clear in her ear.
"It was so lovely to see, though. It's clear how in love they are. They kissed and kissed and kissed."
The 'Lincoln Lawyer' star thanked his mother, Kathleen McCabe, and his late father during his acceptance speech at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
He said: "To you Dad, you taught me how to be a man ... To my mother, who's here tonight, who taught me and my two older brothers - demanded - that we respect ourselves."
The heartthrob then fought back tears as he thanked Camila and his children for their support, saying: "You are the four people in my life that I want to make the most proud of me. Thank you."
Robin Thicke is trying to spread "love and joy".
The 'Blurred Lines' hitmaker - who recently split from Paula Patton after eight years of marriage - is doing his best to stay positive in the wake of the separation and has promised to continue to treat his estranged spouse "right".
Speaking at his concert at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City on Sunday (02.03.14), Robin - who has three-year-old son Julian with Paula - told the audience: "Never stop believing and you never stop loving. And even if it is over, make sure you treat each other right. Treat your family right. Take care of your mom, take care of your kids and good things will come to you. Just keep believing that God is good.
"That's what gets me by. Sometimes when I get a little scared or worried about the future, I just try to stay positive and do my part to spread love and spread joy."
His speech came ahead of his rendition of Al Green's 'Let's Stay Together' and may have been triggered by an earlier outburst from a fan.
The audience member shouted: "I love Paula."
Robin, who was still wearing his wedding ring, quickly shouted back: "I do too."
Although Robin and Paula issued a statement saying they had "mutually" decided to separate, it has been widely reported that the singer was against the decision and tried his best to persuade the actress to change her mind.
Jared Leto hasn't seen 'Dallas Buyers Club'.
The 42-year-old actor - who picked up Best Supporting Actor for his role as transsexual AIDS victim Rayon in the movie at Sunday's (02.03.14) Oscars - plans to watch his work eventually, but wants to "leave it alone" at present because the project was such an "intense" experience.
Speaking on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' yesterday (03.03.14), he said: "I have not seen the film yet.
"I think one day I will watch it, because, you know, I'll be curious at some point. But it was such an intense role. It's better for me to just leave it alone right now."
Jared appeared on the show just a few hours after getting home for the night, but wasn't upset at his lack of sleep because he had enjoyed celebrating so much.
He said: "I got in at -- I think the crack ass of dawn last night, maybe 6 o'clock, 5.30.
"Don't feel sorry for me, this is a time to revel in it, it's a sunrise you want to see.
"My mother, my brother were there and one of the highlights of the night was seeing my mom dance with Madonna.
"You meet all these amazing people last night, whether it was Jane Fonda or Liza Minnelli..."
Winona Ryder thought 'Fifty Shades of Grey' was about the economy.
The 42-year-old actress admitted she is "out of the loop" with popular culture and had a bizarre encounter with author E.L. James about her erotic thriller because although she had heard of the book, its sedate sleeve, which depicts a smart tie, left her confused about its subject matter.
She said: "This is how out of the loop I am. I met E.L. James at a party and I'd heard about the book so I knew everyone was talking about it, but because there's a tie on the cover I thought it was about Wall Street.
"I think I said something really stupid to her because I literally thought it was about the economy."
The 'Edward Scissorhands' star is "waiting" for the right project to come along and is desperate to work with 'The Wire' creator David Simon but has no idea how to approach him.
Speaking to the new edition of Red magazine, she said: "I'm waiting for the thing that gives me that feeling.

Simon Cowell claims his best TV ideas come after he's been drinking.
The 'X Factor' boss has admitted he likes to drink in the early hours of the morning to help spark his creativity but admits comedian Harry Hill, who wrote his 'X Factor' musical 'I Can't Sing!', isn't impressed by his lifestyle choice.
He told the Radio Times magazine: "Harry trained as a doctor, he doesn't like my theory that although I smoke and drink, I take supplements, so I'll be all right.
"If I tried to cut out cigarettes completely, I would have a real problem: too boring. It's the same with drinking."
Simon insists he's "pretty good" at cutting back when he needs to but claims he enjoys drinking because it puts him in a "calm place".
He continued: "I have this expression, 'You never eat Indian food for breakfast'. I always think there is a time in your day when you can be creative.
"For me, [at] one or two in the morning, couple of vodka and limes, couple of cigarettes, I'm in a calm place: I can think. I always say, 'One good idea a year can pay for your next ten years'. And that's all you need to do."
The 54-year-old star, who was photographed topless on holiday with girlfriend Lauren Silverman and new baby, Eric, who was born on Valentine's Day (14.02.14), thinks he's in good shape.
Talking about the photographs, he joked: "Yeah, not too shabby, eh?"
Meanwhile, despite previews for the new musical having been postponed for the second time, after producers claimed they were having "technical problems", Simon is convinced it will be a success.
He said: "It's bloody risky, but so is making the TV show.
"Every new season you go in with the highest hopes, and sometimes you get a bum year.
"You wait for those numbers to come in, oh my God it's stressful, and it's a delicious thrill."
