Lily Allen headlines City Rock gig

Lily Allen performed her first headline show since reviving her music career last night (01.04.14).
The 28-year-old star took to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the City Rocks gig - which celebrated the 275th birthday of the charity Coram - which provides creative therapy for vulnerable children - after a night of performances from other musical acts, including Brian May and The Feeling.
Lily arrived on stage wearing a sheer jumpsuit - which she later revealed she'd been sewn into - and began her set with her single 'Hard Out Here' while surrounded by four backing dancers.
The London born singer apologised for the fact that she may be a bit "rusty" following her four-year hiatus from the music industry before launching into a number of other tracks from her new album 'Sheezus' including 'Our Time' and also revisited her 2006 hit single 'Smile' to the delight of the crowd.
Lily later posted photographs from the night on her Instagram account and wrote a message on Twitter saying: "That was dope. Thanks guys x x (sic)."
Maverick Sabre opened the City Rocks show with a number of tracks from his album 'Lonely Are The Brave' including hit 'Let Me Go', which was followed by a set from Sophie Ellis Bextor, featuring her 2001 hit 'Murder on the Dancefloor' and material from her new album 'Wanderlust'.
Queen's legendary guitarist Brian May joined forces with West End actress Kerry Ellis, and The Feeling played a number of their hits including 'Love It When You Call' before joining Brian and Kerry on stage for a lively rendition of Queen's 'Tie Your Mother Down' prior to Lily's performance.

Waterloo Road axed by BBC

'Waterloo Road' is to end after 10 series.
The BBC One school drama will conclude in 2015 following one last series consisting of 20 episodes, as the broadcaster feels it has reached the end of its "lifecycle".
The BBC has confirmed plans to replace the show - which first launched in March 2006 - with another series at 8pm.
The news was announced by BBC One's Twitter account, which wrote: "Series 10 of #WaterlooRoad will be the final series. We're incredibly proud of the show but believe it has reached the end of its lifecycle. (sic)"
BBC One controller Charlotte Moore and BBC drama controller Ben Stephenson said in a statement: "We are incredibly proud of 'Waterloo Road', and would like to thank Shed Productions and all the cast and teams involved across the ten series.
"However, we believe it has reached the end of its lifecycle and won't be returning after series 10 finishes in 2015.
"On BBC One it's important to make room for new drama and we are committed to commissioning new drama series for 8pm. There are some really exciting ideas currently in development but nothing to confirm yet."
'Waterloo Road' was originally set in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, but moved to Scotland as of the eighth series in 2012.
The series stars Laurie Brett, Angus Deayton, Melanie Hill and Zoe Lucker.
Past actors include Angela Griffin, Denise Welch, Jill Halfpenny and Chelsee Healey.

Emma Willis: Motherhood has helped my career

Emma Willis believes motherhood has helped her TV career.
The presenter started out as a model before becoming an MTV presenter, but she claims it's mostly thanks to her children, Isabelle, four, and Ace, two, boosting her confidence that her career has really taken off in recent years and landed her gigs like 'Big Brother' and 'The Voice'.
She admitted in an interview with the new issue of Cosmopolitan magazine: "Things started to go really well for me as soon as I had kids. Sometimes, interviewing people, I would feel so intimidated and nervous.
"But when you've had kids it gives you confidence - you think, 'I'm a mum. I'm not scared. If I can raise a human being, I can f***ing do this!' "
Emma avoids partying with her showbiz pals and says her presenting gigs are down to hard work and being professional rather than networking.
She explained: "I'm not a great networker. What I have done is always try to be nice to work with. I make the best impression, try to do a good job... and if people hire me again, it's for the right reasons.
"It's nice to see people you work with socially, but I like to stay in most of the time. I don't want to get a job because I've gone out and got drunk with someone."
The 38-year-old star has been married to Busted star Matt Willis since July 2008 and while she insists they're not a romantic couple, she claims their friendship is what makes their marriage so strong.
Emma said: "Matt and I have never been romantic - I find it all quite embarrassing myself. When he proposed, it was like, 'This is really weird!' I was so freaked out I couldn't even call Mum - then he told me, 'Erm, your mum knows.'
"We have date nights but we'll just go to a movie and have dinner - no candlelit suppers! But we're always a proper team: Team Willis."

Kym Marsh splits from boyfriend

Kym Marsh has split from her boyfriend.
The 'Coronation Street' actress has ended her romance with personal trainer Matt Baker, 24, after just six weeks, telling him she isn't ready to start a new relationship as she is still getting over her divorce from Jamie Lomas.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "It was just too much, too soon for her
"She has feelings for Matt but she was worried about rushing into a relationship.
"Kym explained how she felt. Matt was disappointed but he understands the timing just isn't right for her.
"For the moment, she wants to concentrate on work and her family."
The 37-year-old actress met Matt at her local gym in Worsley, Greater Manchester and they were friends for some time before striking up a relationship.
The former pop star's ex-husband Jamie, 33, is now in a relationship with model Chloe Peers, who is also 13 years younger than him.
Kym - who has two-year-old daughter Poppy with Jamie, as well as David, 18, and Emily, 16, from a previous relationship - was granted a divorce from the 'EastEnders' star earlier this month after she called the police when he allegedly flew into a drunken rage.

EastEnders’ Bianca and Sonia in cancer scare

EastEnders' Bianca Jackson and Sonia Fowler will receive devastating news next week.
The soap sisters - both daughters of Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson), who has been at the centre of a gripping breast cancer storyline recently - are set to receive the results of the tests they took to find out whether they have the BRCA2 cancer gene next week, and it will be bad news for one of them.
Bianca (Patsy Palmer) and Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) both decided to take the test after their mother was diagnosed with the gene, and although bosses of the BBC One soap are keeping the identity of the unfortunate sibling a secret, one of them will definitely be faced with some difficult decisions.
A show insider told the Daily Star newspaper: "For Carol, it's a nightmare come true.
"She can handle the cancer but she's devastated that one of her daughters is going to go through hell."
The devastating news will reportedly put even more strain on the family - which includes Carol's partner and Bianca's dad David Wicks (Michael French) and Bianca's adoptive daughter Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) - who have been supporting Carol during her battle with cancer.

Lindsay Lohan’s free rehab stay

Lindsay Lohan's three-month rehab stay was free.
The troubled actress - whose personal assistant has reportedly quit because she can't afford to pay him - spent three months at the upmarket Cliffside Malibu clinic last June and the facility agreed to foot the $150,000 bill in return for the publicity her stay would bring.
A source told RadarOnline.com: "Health insurance wouldn't pay for the rehab stint because this was her sixth time in treatment.
"Cliffside Malibu comped it. Prior to arriving at Cliffside, Lindsay had been at Betty Ford and wasn't doing well there. Cliffside Malibu became available and agreed to allow her stay presumably because of the free publicity it gave them.
The 27-year-old star "thrived" at the facility, who gave her a private room, which costs a reported $73,000 for the stint.
The source added: "She thrived in the environment. She had a private room because she would never agree to have a roommate."
According to reports, the 'Machete' star is in "dire financial straits", despite earning $2 million for her OWN reality series 'Lindsay'.
A source said: "Only Lindsay could get paid such a large paycheque and once again be in dire financial straits.
"After Lindsay's manager, agent, publicist [and taxes] were paid... she was left with $750,000.
"This was last year and Lindsay has never been able to save any money in her life. Her reality show has been sold overseas, but she will only get $250,000. That money gets divided up among her team and Lindsay is left with less than $100,000."
It was reported earlier this week that Lindsay had two credit cards declined when she tried to pay a $300 bill at a New York store.

Shailene Woodley loves George Clooney’s fart pranks

Shailene Woodley says George Clooney plays fart jokes on set.
The 22-year-old actress is a big fan of the A-list actor, who played her father in 2011's Academy-Award winning drama 'The Descendents', and admires him for both his humanitarian work and his juvenile yet hilarious practical jokes.
She enthused to Stylist magazine: "He's incredible. There's this saying that goes, 'as women we can be pregnant with the world' - we have space for kindness and compassion. George is the male version of that.
"If [a place] is messed up, he says, 'I'm going to go to Africa and do something about it; I'm going to go to Obama, and talk to him about things that aren't working.' He's an ambassador of goodness.
"He's also the ultimate prankster. He'd have fart machines on his phone and he'd mix hard boiled eggs with raw eggs which would splatter everywhere. He doesn't take himself seriously at all."
The star also loved working with Kate Winslet on new teen dystopia flick 'Divergent' and was impressed by how humble and positive she was about everything.
Revealing what advice the veteran actress gave her, Shailene said: "What a powerful, strong, normal woman! She said, 'Some people make it harder than they need to', and that really resonated with me. Life is easy when you see happiness and humbleness in everything and Kate sees that."

Justin Bieber close to plea deal

Justin Bieber is close to reaching a plea deal in his driving under the influence (DUI) case.
The 'Boyfriend' hitmaker was arrested in Miami in January and charged with DUI, resisting arrest and possessing an invalid driver's license, but all three charges will be dropped if he pleads no contest to reckless driving, TMZ reports.
It was previously claimed the 20-year-old star - who will receive a year's probation as part of the agreement - would refuse a plea deal if it involved being subjected to random drug testing, but the proposal from prosecutors does not include this as a condition.
Justin was driving a rented yellow Lamborghini when police stopped him for allegedly drag racing.
Toxicology test results later showed the singer had traces of marijuana and Xanax in his system at the time of the arrest.
Meanwhile, lawyers for the singer have branded a lawsuit brought by a photographer against the star and his bodyguard "frivolous".
Jeffrey Binion is seeking damages after claiming the singer instructed his bodyguard to attack him and take his camera after he took photographs outside a recording studio last June, and in a hearing yesterday (01.04.14), he sought to boost the potential settlement he could receive.
His attorney Mark DiCowden said he has documented at least 11 similar alleged assaults against photographers over two years involving Bieber and his security personnel and argued a damages award for his client could deter future assaults against paparazzi.
He said: "It's not a financial fishing expedition. It is well known around the world that Justin Bieber does not like to be photographed in public."
The 'Baby' hitmaker's attorney Jared Lopez insisted there is no evidence the photographer was physically harmed or that the singer ordered bodyguard Hugo Hesny to go after him.
And another of his lawyers, Roy Black, said outside the court the case was "frivolous" and designed to generate publicity.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Sarah Zabel did not immediately make a ruling.

Sarah Harding says Cheryl Cole is ‘broody’

Sarah Harding says Cheryl Cole is "broody."
The former Girls Aloud star claims the 30-year-old 'X Factor' judge - who split from ex-boyfriend Tre Holloway last year - is ready to have kids, but for now they are both happy looking after their pet dogs.
Sarah, 32, told The Daily Mirror newspaper: "I know that Cheryl is broody, but we both have our animals.
"Maybe I should think about having kids at my age, but i'm still young and while I do want them one day, right now I don't even think I'm responsible enough.
"I've got my dogs and I have my godchildren - three boys of three, six and nine. They are my baby fix for now. I will probably get more dogs and other animals before I have kids."
Sarah - who lives in Buckinghamshire with her DJ boyfriend of 18 months Mark Foster - admits she doesn't want to "leave it too late" and will have kids by age 35, but is "over the moon" for her bandmates, Nadine Coyle, who welcomed a daughter with boyfriend Jason Bell in February and Kimberly Walsh, who is expecting a baby with partner Justin Scott.
Sarah gushed: "Kimberley texted me a couple weeks ago and she is so excited. She is going to be a great mum, she and Nadine are so family orientated."

Michael Jackson song about child abuse

A song on Michael Jackson's new album is believed to be about his struggle to overcome child sex abuse allegations.
The track - 'Do You Know Where Your Children Are?' - is among eight new songs which will feature on the late King of Pop's new record - 'XSCAPE' - which is out in May.
The lyrics tell the story of a 12-year-old girl, who has been abused by her stepfather and ends up working as a prostitute.
Michael sings: "She wrote that she is tired of step-daddy using her/Saying that he'll buy her things, while sexually abusing her."
It also includes the phrase: "Save me from this living hell", which is repeated a number of times during the song.
The track is believed to have been written after Michael was found not guilty of sex offences against young boys in 2005.
It will feature on the record, which is the second to be released since Michael's death in 2009 of acute Propofol intoxication, and has been worked on by Epic Records chairman L.A Reid and producer Timbaland.
Reid said: "We are extremely proud and honoured to present this music to the world."
Meanwhile, in 2013, dancer Wade Robson, who testified to defend the 'Thriller' singer when he was accused of molestation, claimed he was abused by the star. A hearing will take place in June.

Duff McKagan rejoins Guns N’ Roses for South America shows

Duff McKagan is reuniting with Guns N' Roses for five shows across South America.
The legendary hard rock group's former bassist - who played in the original line-up with singer Axl Rose, guitarists Slash and Izzy Stradlin and drummer Steven Adler and was a member of the group from 1985 to 1993 - will "help out" by heading out on the road to fill in for current bassist, Tommy Stinson, who has already been scheduled for reunion gigs with The Replacements.
Tommy told Billboard.com: "I had those Replacement shows come up the same time the [South American] tour came up, and it got to be a scheduling issue right out of the gate.
"I didn't want to f**k anyone up in Guns by saying, 'Hey, I can't do this tour,' or anything like that. Luckily someone was able to reach out to Duff and he was amenable to the idea and was into doing it. So I'm like, 'Thanks dude, for covering my ass on this one.' "
Duff will join the current line-up - which includes keyboardist Dizzy Reed, guitarists DJ Ashba, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer and keyboardist Chris Pitman - from April 6 until April 17 for shows in Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina before his last set in Brazil.
Tommy will play one show in Brazil on April 3 before rejoining the group in Pennsylvania on May 13.
Duff - who quit Guns N' Roses in 1997 - made a post online revealing his return, which read: "Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Brazil! See y'all in the next few weeks, Si? GNR. (sic)"
Duff's decision to work with Axl again has given fans hope Slash and the other former members will be able to bury the hatchet with the difficult frontman so the classic line-up can tour once again.
Slash and Axl have barely spoken since the guitarist quit the band in 1996 due to a breakdown in their songwriting partnership and the collaborative process between the entire group.
Their rift only worsened when Axl refused to join the other original band members at their induction into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in February 2012.

Janelle Monáe: Paying homage to Bowie was a dream

Janelle Monáe says paying homage to David Bowie in a new Pepsi MAX advert was "truly a dream".
The R&B singer appears in the commercial as a busker, singing Bowie's famous track 'Heroes' for small change, and she was thrilled to have been chosen to take part.
She said: "'Heroes' is one of my favourite David Bowie songs, he's just the coolest artist out there, so to be able to cover the song and to pay homage to him is truly a dream."
The advert, part of the brand's Now Is What You Make It campaign, ties in with the World Cup and was filmed in the streets of Rio, where this year's competition will take place.
It also features soccer stars Robin van Persie, David Luiz, Sergio Ramos, Sergio Agüero, Jack Wilshere and Leo Messi, performing impressive tricks with a football.
Janelle, who was nominated for International Female Solo Artist at this year's BRIT Awards, continued: "I love everything the film stands for. To me, it is all about that extraordinary burst of courage and passion which can embolden everyday people in a moment of spontaneity, which is also the message of David Bowie's venerable song.
"I was honoured to join Pepsi for this campaign and remind people that now more than ever, we can all be heroes."
