Mary-Louise Parker talks to her children about drugs "a lot".
The 49-year-old actress admits she has regular conversations with her son Billy, 10, and seven-year-old daughter Caroline about the dangers of dabbling with illegal substances.
She explained: "I'm very afraid of drugs and very afraid of what happens especially to people who have particular biochemistry that is susceptible to addiction, which runs in my family. So we talk about it. We talk about everything.
"I tell them, 'You will never get in trouble if you're drunk and you call me and ask me to pick you up at a friend's. You do not get grounded. But if you come home in a car with someone who's [drunk and] driving or if you drive drunk ...' "
The brunette beauty played Nancy Botwin, who grew and sold marijuana unapologetically, in the US TV series 'Weeds' until 2012, but she admits she's never been interested in drugs in real life.
She explained to People magazine: "I really hate drugs, and I was always the person where that was my thing: Mary-Louise doesn't do drugs."

Tom Arnold is in the "best shape" of his life.
The 55-year-old comedian has lost 100lbs, taking him from 287lbs to 187lbs, in just one year and he is now ready to celebrate after reaching his target weight.
His publicist told ABC news: "He's happily reached his 100lb weight-loss goal. He went from 287lbs to 187lbs and is in the best shape of his life."
Tom previously admitted his 11-month-old son Jax Copeland, whom he shares with his wife Ashley Groussman, 37, had encouraged him to lose the weight after years of fertility problems.
He said earlier this year: "Something inside of me changed. I knew I needed to live as long as I could. The moment I saw [Jax] I realised he deserves the best."
The 'Sons of Anarchy' star also admitted that he used to be embarrassed by his body and would get upset when his clothes were too tight for him.
He explained: "There was a lot of shame. One time I had a tailor come over and sew the weights into my suits - this is what you wear when you are 210, 220, 240, 300. That saved me the time of going into my closet and getting so upset and frustrated."

Ricky Gervais has joked he would send Justin Bieber to bed if he was his manager.
The 'Muppets Most Wanted' actor admits he wouldn't be very good at managing other people's careers because he's a "control freak", but he thinks the troubled pop star would benefit from staying away from the limelight for a bit following his recent run-ins with the law.
When asked if he would manage the 20-year-old singer's career, Ricky told E! News: "I have trouble managing my own [career]. I give myself terrible advice. I don't think I could manage anyone else because it'd be too frustrating. I'm a control freak, so I can make me do what I want but I couldn't make other people. I'd send him [Justin] to bed. I'd go, 'Go to bed, Justin'."
Meanwhile, the 'Baby' hitmaker has hit the headlines recently following his arrest in Miami in January after he was allegedly caught drag racing, which resulted in him being charged with driving under the influence (DUI), driving without a license, and resisting arrest.
Justin could also face felony charges in California after he allegedly egged one of his neighbours' homes, causing $20,000 of damage.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney is currently reviewing the evidence and deciding whether to press charges against the star.

Jack Reynor is engaged.
The 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' star is set to tie the knot with Madeline Mulqueen after he popped the question recently following two years of dating, according to People magazine.
Rumours of a possible engagement began circulating yesterday (11.03.14) when the Irish model was spotted wearing a large sparkler on her ring finger as she worked on a pilot for the TV show 'Bounce' in Dublin.
The 23-year-old actor and Madeline, 22, confirmed their relationship last year at the Irish Film and Television Awards after they struck up a relationship following their flirtatious exchanges on Twitter.
The duo have been inseparable ever since and even travelled to the US together last summer while Jack filmed for the popular film series with Mark Wahlberg.
Madeline said after they had returned from the US: "We had a house in LA. It was good that we were together and experiencing it together."
Meanwhile, Jack has been keen to show off his beau since the beginning of their relationship and even referred to her as the "best girlfriend in the world" last month after she bought him the autobiography of Richard Harris for Valentine's Day.
He wrote on Twitter at the time: "Amazing Valentine's present from the best girlfriend in world."

Kesha has moved to Los Angeles following her stint in rehab.
The 'Timber' hitmaker finished her treatment for an eating disorder at the Timberline Knolls centre earlier this week, and has now decided to make a fresh start by moving from Tennessee to California.
The 27-year-old singer decided to set up home in Los Angeles because she has "a great support system" to whom she "can talk to about anything", according to a pal close to the Nashville star.
Kesha, who was formerly known as Ke$ha, spent two months at the facility near Chicago after admitting she was suffering with bulimia and anorexia, but she's now on the road to recovery.
The source explained to People magazine: "She's doing great. She looks and feels fantastic.
"I think she got what she went [to rehab] for. She's remembered how to love herself. That's what she got in touch with while she was away."
The 'Tik Tok' hitmaker took to her Twitter account after her stint to claim she was feeling happy and healthy.
She tweeted last week: "Happy to be back! Feeling healthy & working on tons of new music, I can't thank my fans enough for all the love & support u have given me. (sic)"
However, the purple-haired beauty recently postponed her upcoming 'Warrior' world tour, which would see her perform in Hammond, Indiana, on March 15 and Green Bay, Wisconsin, on April 13, following doctor's orders to overcome her issues before focusing on her career again.

Shailene Woodley has hit out at the "toxic" 'Twilight' franchise.
The 22-year-old actress has slammed the romantic fantasy films - starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner - because she doesn't think the movies are sending out the right messages to young people.
She told the April edition of Teen Vogue magazine: "'Twilight', I'm sorry, is about a very unhealthy, toxic relationship.
"She falls in love with this guy and the second he leaves her, her life is over and she's going to kill herself!
"What message are we sending to young people? That is not going to help this world evolve."
However, Shailene - who appears in a variety of erotic scenes in 'White Bird in a Blizzard' - is determined to make her roles as believable as possible.
She said previously: "When somebody's doing a sex scene and they're wearing a bra and underwear, that's not how it happens in real life. If I'm going to say yes to a movie where this is necessary, then I'm going to bring truth to that situation."

Stacy Keibler is reportedly pregnant.
The 34-year-old star is believed to be expecting her first child with her husband Jared Pobre, whom she married in Mexico last weekend, and is already sporting a "sizeable bump", according to the New York Post newspaper.

Demi Lovato has a respiratory infection.
The 21-year-old singer was forced to seek medical help yesterday (11.03.14) after she began coughing up blood just before she took to the stage in New York for her 'Neon Lights' tour.
The 'Heart Attack' hitmaker posted a screen shot on her Twitter account of a text conversation between her and a friend, where she revealed she had been spitting blood.
However, after her fans became increasingly worried about her health, she wrote: "For all of you that are worried, I saw a doctor and it's just a respiratory infection."
Earlier in the day, Demi took to Twitter to announce that she was feeling sick, but she was determined not to cancel her show.
She wrote: "The last thing I would EVER want to do is cancel a show, with that being said I'm super sick tonight so it may not be my best show BUT I'm SO excited to perform for you guys but I may need you to sing most of the show for me!!! Hahaha (sic)".
Despite battling with the illness, the concert in Long Island appeared to be a success.
She tweeted after the show: "I love you guys so much!!!! Thank you Long Island for an incredible night.. Soooo fun even when I'm sick!!! #NEONLIGHTSTOUR (sic)".

Susan Sarandon refuses to be called grandma.
The legendary actress, whose daughter Eva Amurri Martino is expecting a baby girl with husband Kyle, is reluctant for her very first grandchild to refer to her by a traditional moniker and will encourage the tot to call her 'Honey' instead.
She explained to People magazine: "I borrowed this name from a very dear friend of mine who's from the South, and his grandma was 'Honey'.
"That's what I'm experimenting with and Eva likes it, so we'll see."
The 67-year-old star also says there won't be any name clashes with her son-in-law's parents, who already have six grandchildren.
She added: "I think it's good because this is Kyle's parents seventh grandchild, so they've established what his parents are called."
The 'Stepmom' actress has already begun buying baby gifts for Kyle and Eva, 28, who announced her pregnancy last month, as their birthdays are both this month.
Susan said: "So for her birthday and his birthday, they're getting a little crib and changing table."
The veteran actress had her daughter with Italian filmmaker Franco Amurri and also has two sons - Jack, 24, and 21-year-old Miles - with her former partner, Tim Robbins, from whom she split in 2009 after over 20 years together.

Rhys Ifans has spoken out on the slaughter of seals for their fur, calling it "inhumane."
The 'Amazing Spider Man' actor branded the killing of the marine mammals for their skins as "an off-season cash grab" for the Canadian fishing industry in a letter urging the Appellate Body of World Trade Organisation (WTO) to maintain the organisation's decision to uphold the European Union's ban against the practice ahead of their meeting in Geneva on March 17.
An extract from a signed letter written by Rhys on behalf of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) reads: "EU nations have made it clear that they want no part in the seal slaughter, which is merely an off-season cash grab for the Canadian fishing industry and accounts for less than 1 per cent of Newfoundland's economy. Since Canada is challenging the EU ban merely for political reasons back home, I hope the Appellate Body will uphold it."
The letter comes just two weeks before Canada's annual seal hunt, a practice dating back centuries which sees seals slaughtered, officially in a bid to prevent fisheries damages, however young seals are coveted for their fur.
The EU, Mexico, Taiwan and the US have now banned seal fur imports, as have Russia , who were responsible for importing 95 percent of Canada's seal fur.
The Canadian government have been arguing against the EU ban to revive the trade but officials are being forced to examine whether the practices should be put to rest.
