Lorde could handle it if her next album is "really small".
The 17-year-old singer insists the most important thing about her second record is that she enjoys the songs because she'll have to perform them so often, and she doesn't care what size venues she ends up playing in.
She said: "To be honest, if the next record I make is really cool and I like it, I can handle it being really big and I can handle it being small.
"I have to play it every two years so if I love it that's OK."
The 'Royals' hitmaker enjoys touring as she likes to "burrow" herself in local life - though she loves returning home afterwards.
She told Stylist magazine: "Basically, everywhere I go I just want to kind of burrow into the culture and become a local.
"Like, I just want to know everything. I'm having so much fun travelling. But when I get home, I'm glad to be there. I'm glad to have the beach close by and lots of green everywhere. Where I live is a very big part of me. The geography of it."

Chelsee Healey has joined the cast of 'Casualty'.
The former 'Waterloo Road' actress has signed up to play an administrator in the soap as bosses look to make the show hospital show more glamorous.
An insider told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "The BBC were delighted to sign up Chelsee.
"After starting out on 'Waterloo road' and being runner-up in 'Strictly Come Dancing' she was the natural choice to inject a bit of glamour.
"Chelsee is delighted to be back working in a long running series as she has missed acting in the last few months and she can't wait to get stuck in."
Chelsee - who was the runner-up on 'Strictly' when Harry Judd won in 2011 - was spotted having a break before starting on the show as she enjoyed a sunny break in Marbella, Spain with a mystery man.
A source said: "She and her pals partied all day, splashing about in the pool and dancing to music. They were all downing cocktails.
"Chelsee and her man looked loved up. They went for a walk but he fell over and she helped him up, giggling her head off."

Little Mix have banned "sexy time" while on tour.
The girl group are currently on the road playing arena shows across the UK and Jade Thirlwall - who is dating Diversity dancer Sam Craske - has admitted they have had to tell their boyfriends they'll have to do without sharing bunks during the run.
She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "There's no sexy time. There's no room for boyfriends - they've been banned and are not allowed to stay on the bus.
"On tour in America we used to smuggle them on the bus into the bunks without telling anyone.
"But we only have only extra space here and we're using that for one of ours mums."
Meanwhile, Perrie Edwards admitted she was missing her fiance Zayn Malik and explained they love seeing each other perform on stage.
She said: "Normally I don't mind but in this case it's been hard. I'm proud of this show and I want him to see it as soon as he can.
"I don't want to miss his show - and he wants to see mine. I love watching the boys perform."

Morrissey's 'fake' Twitter account has been shut down by his record label.
Fans were delighted when the 'First of the Gang to Die' singer appeared to have joined the micro-blogging website on Wednesday (14.05.14) but Harvest Records have suggested the profile wasn't official - despite being verified on the website - as they "bid farewell" to it already.
Writing on their own account, they said: "We've taken over @itsmorrissey to protect it from interlopers. Alas, it's already time to bid farewell to the account."
The profile - which has now been deleted - was set up in 2009, while the 54-year-old star was believed to have posted his first tweet earlier week.
However, before the label seized control of it, he had insisted he wasn't wasn't on Twitter, even though it was one of the site's verified accounts - a system used to let fans know they are following an authentic celebrity's feed.
In a statement, he wrote: "I would like to stress that I do not have either a Twitter or a Facebook account.
"I gather that a Twitter account has been opened in my name - as 'It's Morrissey' - but it is NOT Morrissey. I do not know who has opened this recent Twitter account, but please be aware that it is bogus.
"That's, of course, if you should remotely care. Untwitterably yours, MORRISSEY"

Calvin Harris wants Victoria Beckham to record a "huge dance anthem".
The superstar DJ is said to be keen to convince the former Posh Spice to return to pop in an attempt to relaunch her dance music career following her hit 'Out of Your Mind' in 2000.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "Calvin's deadly serious about working with Victoria.
"He was a closet Spice Girls fan and was a huge fan of 'Out of Your Mind'. Calvin met Gordon Ramsay recently and revealed his plans to write her a huge dance anthem."
Through their mutual friend, the 'I Will Never Let You Down' hitmaker is looking to get in touch with the fashion designer and while he knows it will be difficult to convince her, he thinks he's the one who can do it.
The insider added: "He asked for Victoria's details and is planning to contact her about getting back into the studio.
"He know it's a long shot but believes that if anyone can it's him."
There is still speculation the remaining Spice Girls - Mel C, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Gerri Halliwell - will head to Las Vegas for a new residency without Victoria, who has previously stressed she no longer wants to perform.

Simon Cowell wants a huge male star for 'The X Factor' judging panel.
The media mogul's search for a woman to appear alongside Cheryl Cole isn't going to plan, so he's willing to compromise and go for another man - providing they are a big name.
An insider told the Sunday People newspaper: "Before it was only a woman that Simon wanted, now they've started taking meetings with boy too.
"Olly Murs was always top contender but he has other commitments. They are looking at lots of options, including Americans, but they want a biggie.
"What they want is someone hip and cool who speaks to the masses."
One name being tied to the show - potentially as Louis Walsh's replacement if ITV axe him from the next series - is 'Livin' La Vida Loca' hitmaker Ricky Martin.
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday newspaper, a source said: "Ricky has had several discussing about becoming a judge and is keen to join the show.
"ITV want to replace Louis - and Ricky is their top choice. The problem is Simon is adamant he wants Louis on the panel and he usually gets his own way."

Danniella Westbrook is reportedly pregnant with Tom Richards' baby.
The couple - who have had a whirlwind romance over the past three months - were seen shopping for baby clothes and it is said the former 'EastEnders' actress and the cage fighter are "over the moon" about their unexpected news.

The One Direction singer was out celebrating with his future stepfather Dan Deakin and 10 friends as they enjoyed what is said to have been a raunchy and outrageous night out.
According to reports in The Sun on Sunday newspaper, Louis and the party-goers were entertained by a three feet tall stripper called Sarah at the group's £400-a-night suite in Barcelona.
It is said guests were shocked when she was brought into the foyer of the W hotel - a five-star establishment - at 8pm on Friday (16.05.14).
She was there for two hours before leaving the hotel with her outfit in a trolley.
Dan is engaged to Louis' mother Johannah Tomlinson ahead of their wedding this summer.
The star's soon-to-be stepdad took to Twitter the next morning.and suggested it was a heavy night.

Earlier this year, Louis became an uncle when the couple welcomed twins Ernest and Doris into the world in February.

Angelina Jolie "made the right choice" for her family by having a double mastectomy.
The 'Maleficent' actress underwent the preventative procedure in February 2013 after being told she had an 87 per cent chance of getting breast cancer, and she spoke out about her decision in order to help other women in similar positions.
She told the Mail on Sunday newspaper's You magazine: "I didn't know how it would be received. But I felt that the important thing was that I wanted to speak to other women.
"I wanted to speak to other daughters of women like my mother [who died from ovarian cancer in 2007]. I wanted other women to be aware of something that they could take on and protect themselves from.
"I felt that I'd learnt something about my health, and I felt I'd made the right choice for my family and I simply wanted other women to know that there was that choice."
Angelina is facing further surgery because she is genetically at risk of suffering from ovarian cancer, and she has been inspired by the support from women all over the world.
She added: "It has been lovely and very moving; I've had so much support and kindness ... I'll get advice from all the wonderful people I've been talking to, to get through the next stage."

Keira Knightley loves reading "trashy novels".
Though the 29-year-old actress didn't get much down time while shooting her latest movie 'Begin Again', she usually relaxes between takes with a book, but can't focus on anything too taxing.
She said: "On a film like this there isn't a lot of waiting. We had 24 days, so it was just like go, go, go.
"Normally what do I do? I have a cup of tea and I like book tapes or really trashy novels, because you can't read something difficult when you're working on something else."
The actress co-stars with Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine in the movie and though it was his first film, she thought he was a very good actor.
She said: "I'd actually seen him live and that energy makes an experience. He's a born entertainer, so I wasn't worried about him expressing himself
"He didn't need any tips. He's a natural actor and a very lovely man to work with, so it was a lot of fun."
The brunette beauty had to sing in the movie and admits she didn't particularly enjoy the performance scenes.
She told Britain's OK! magazine: "I'm not a singer or a musician so no, I didn't enjoy it. I had to fake it.
"It was fun, but I think I'm bad [at singing]."
