Kings of Leon are closer after hitting rock bottom in 2011.
The 'Sex on Fire' hitmakers were forced to take a year long break due to exhaustion, and frontman Caleb Followill's alcohol abuse, and the family band believe their time out of the limelight has made them stronger.
During an interview with Fearne Cotton on UK station BBC Radio 1, Caleb said: "We're brothers and that's never going to change. We'll always have moments where we don't see eye-to-eye but I think it made us realise how much we love what we're doing. How blessed we are. I think it made us closer."
The Oklahoma rockers - also formed of Caleb's brothers Nathan and Jared and their cousin Matthew - were initially at a loss as to what to do when they returned to their hometown and were faced with an empty schedule after being forced to cancel their world tour promoting their fourth album 'Only by the Night', which culminated in a series of disastrous performances.
Caleb said: "It was a bit of a shock for us because we had toured so much for so long and so hard. It was a bit of a shock to us to basically have a whole year freed up. But after a week or so, we thought it feels good to be home and get to be a dad and a husband and doing normal things.
"And I think it showed us there's nothing wrong with taking a break to recharge your batteries and come back bigger, better and stronger. The circumstances of why we had to take that break might not have been the way we envisioned it [though]."
The band now make sure they book into separate hotel rooms and spend time apart when they're on the road so as to avoid tensions running high again.
Nathan revealed: "We've learned it's OK to take time to yourself even if you're in the some hotel, same room, same city. It's OK to take time and get a breath of fresh air and clear your head.
"Whereas early on, we did everything together. In the same dressing room, on stage, in the same club, wearing the same clothes. we can be a cohesive unit on stage, but off stage it's OK to be your own person."
Cheryl Cole's fourth album is set to come out in November.
The pop princess has revealed the follow-up to her 2012 record 'A Million Lights' is due later this year, with her new single 'Crazy Stupid Love' dropping imminently.
The 30-year-old star told Britain's HELLO! magazine: "I have the single 'Crazy Stupid Love', so I have to make the video for that, which involves choreography, casting the dancers, rehearsals, approving the idea, then fittings for costumes and hair and make-up, then the filming.
"The perfume launch in August and the album launch in November. I'm so busy at the moment, I'm just taking things one day at a time."
The former Girls Aloud singer was living it up at the Cannes Film Festival for the fifth year in a row last week and she says her priority on the red carpet is avoiding an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction like her pal Eva Longoria's 2013 slip-up.
She advised: "Always wear underwear. Seriously, I would rather have a line than be caught out without anything on; I would be mortified. The whole world is watching and those photographers are just waiting to catch you out."
Rumours were rife Cheryl was in Cannes to meet with film bosses, but she claims she is only tentatively considering a movie career and is concentrating on music for now.
She said: "Doing a cameo in the [2012] film 'What To Expect When You're Expecting' has [given me the acting bug]. I loved that. We were on set, everyone was like a family and, you know, I thought, 'I could really do this'. I've appeared in so many videos and that is a form of acting. So yes, I am definitely interested."
Sir Christopher Lee has released a heavy metal album to celebrate his 92nd birthday.
The legendary actor reached the enviable age today (27.05.14) and to mark the special occasion has brought out 'Metal Knight', a seven track collection which features two covers from the 'Man Of La Mancha' musical which is based on the fictional character Don Quixote.
Speaking about the inspiration for the LP, Lee revealed: "As far as I am concerned, Don Quixote is the most metal fictional character that I know. Single-handed, he is trying to change the world, regardless of any personal consequences. It is a wonderful character to sing."
Lee - who is famous for his portrayal of Count Dracula in several Hammer Horror films and roles in the 'Star Wars' and 'Lord of the Rings' franchises - has posted a video on YouTube in which he explains the motivation for the tracks with of the featured songs being a metal cover of Frank Sinatra classic 'My Way'.
Lee - who first began making metal music around 10 years ago when he collaborated with Italian symphonic metal band Rhapsody of Fire - said: "I associate heavy metal with fantasy because of the tremendous power that the music delivers."
In 2013, Lee became the oldest performer to chart in the US after his version of 'Jingle Hell (Bells)' reached number 18 in the Billboard Charts. His new album is now available from all digital music stores.
Carrie Fisher says the original 'Star Wars' cast looked "a little melted" when they met ahead of shooting on 'Episode VII'.
The 57-year-old actress reprises her role as Princess Leia in the blockbuster sequel alongside alongside Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker who are also returning to the franchise.
She admits it was reassuring to see that everyone's appearance had changed 37 years on from the original.
Talking to an audience at the Hay Festival in Wales, she said: "We all look a little melted. It's good to see other melted people.
"And it is good to have us all in a room because it's unique. I mean, I don't suppose they have reunions for the 'Gone With The Wind' gang."
Carrie played Princess Leia three times starting with the original 197 film, 'Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope' and she believes her latest interpretation will be her best.
She said: "We are doing it over again so I can get Princess Leia right this time. I think less British. I looked a little pretentious faking the accent. It was sort of a viral accent - it came and went."
Filming began in Abu Dhabi earlier this month and is then expected to continue at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.
The movie - which has a screenplay written by director J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasban - is due to open worldwide on December 18, 2015.
Madonna has failed to report for jury duty.
The 55-year-old star had been summoned to the Manhattan Supreme Court at 111 Centre Street near City Hall in New York to perform her civic duty along with a jury of her peers but failed to attend, according ...
Britain's Duchess Catherine deserved privacy when she was dating Prince William, a jury at the Old Bailey has heard.
The former News of the World royal editor Clive Goodman, who hacked the 32-year-old royal's phone 155 times, fell below "standards" it was announced in court.
David Spens QC said: "I am not inviting any sympathy for Mr Goodman. Any sympathy for him has been forfeited by his admission that he hacked Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry, which was a shameful thing to do.
"It's all to do with maintaining high standards of journalism - respecting anyone's right to privacy, not just Kate Middleton.
"Mr Goodman had recognised he had fallen below those standards."
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge is under the spotlight because an image baring her bottom have been published by a German newspaper online.
The decision to print the image in Bild has sparked a privacy row between Clarence House and members of the European media, according to the Huffington Post.
The revealing photograph was taken by celebrated photographer Diane Von Furstenberg during Kate Middleton and Prince William's recent trip to Australia, after the wind from a helicopter blew up Kate's skirt on a visit to the Blue Mountains near Sydney.
Kings of Leon want to quit before they get too old.
The 'Use Somebody' rockers have no intention of still making music when they're grey and wrinkly and intend to put the rock 'n' roll lifestyle firmly behind them so they can reap its rewards.
Quizzed whether they'd like to have the same longevity as The Rolling Stones, lead singer Caleb Followill laughed: "I hope not! Maybe if you're playing a gig here and there, but I don't see us going on a big tour at that age."
Nathan Followill quipped: "We would be very lucky to last that long. That would be awesome if we could. We would much rather be on a yacht somewhere!"
The band, who were forced to take a year out in 2011 due to exhaustion, are hoping for an early retirement and a relaxing lifestyle after the excess of their youth.
Discussing his top priority for the future, Nathan enthused: "Sleeping."
However, they have some big hurdles to cross before they can relax since main songwriter Caleb is constantly seeking to compete with the success of other bands, as well as their own triumphs.
During an interview on UK station BBC Radio 1, he added: "I don't think we've written our masterpiece yet. I still strive for something that we haven't achieved yet. Every time I see a band come out and release and album I think, 'Man, I should have done that.'
"You always want your next album to be better than your last. It sucks when your last record was the biggest one you've done, it makes it tougher. We're very competitive, not only with ourselves, but with other bands. We're like, 'Loved your record, now we're going to try and beat that.' "
EastEnders' Khali Best was suspended for breaching the soap's code of conduct.
The 26-year-old star - who is known for his role as mechanic Dexter Hartman on the show - was slapped with a three-month filming ban by executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins, and it's claimed his suspension stems from bad behaviour that broke the terms of his £50,000-a-year contract.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Khali is in a very privileged position that many young actors can only dream of.
"His behaviour lately has not been to a standard the BBC expects of its 'EastEnders' cast.
"We won't go into details but his conduct outside of work has not been good at all and is a threat to the show."
Khali was reportedly called in for crisis talks with show boss Dominic about his recent behaviour and it's believed he has had previous incidents of poor punctuality on set.
The insider continued: "Khali has been fined in the past for not turning up to work on time and his behaviour has worsened recently, so much so that Dominic thought enough was enough.
"He knew he had to be tough on Khali to send out a clear message to both him and the rest of the cast that they have a duty as an 'EastEnders' employee to behave in a certain way.
"Dominic felt a three-month suspension was the right punishment and hopefully Khali will come back to work with a better attitude. If he doesn't then he may well find that his future on the show is short."
Rolf Harris has blasted "ludicrous" claims he sexually assaulted a teenage girl.
The 84-year-old TV star - who strenuously denies 12 counts of indecent assault against the woman and three other girls between 1968 and 1986 - gave evidence in his ongoing trial for the first time today (27.05.14), admitting to having an affair with the woman in her adult years, but insists he never performed a sex act on her when she was 13.
Quizzed about an alleged incident in 1978 after the girl stepped out of the shower, he told Southwark Crown Court: "Nope, didn't happen."
Rolf - who is married to Alwen Hughes - expressed his "guilt" over his illicit romance with the woman, a friend of his daughter Bindi Harris, when she was an adult.
He said: "It was a very flattering feeling for this young lady to be showing an interest in me."
The veteran entertainer later added: "I find it very hard to discuss this. It's very embarrassing.
"It's just a married man, a much younger girl ... I shouldn't have been doing it."
Rolf claims he began a romantic relationship with the woman and performed a sex act on her in bed during one of her visits to the Harris family home.
Insisting the tryst was consensual, he said: "She seemed to be welcoming the whole business and enjoying it."
The former 'Animal Hospital' presenter detailed how the affair ended in "a very acrimonious way" and alleges the woman tried to blackmail him in exchange for £25,000.
He lamented: "It was like the sword of Damocles hanging over me, I kept waiting each weekend for a newspaper to destroy me."
During the same conversation, Rolf says the woman became "irate" and began punching him in the face with clenched fists.
Elsewhere, the TV star bizarrely appeared to entertain the jury by singing a part of his song 'Jake the Peg' and demonstrating the sounds made by his favourite instruments, the didgeridoo and wobble board.
The BBC considered axing 'Doctor Who' after David Tennant quit the series in 2009.
Executive producer Steven Moffat has revealed BBC bosses were so worried about fans accepting a new actor as the Time Lord they nearly ended the sci-fi drama upon David's departure as the Tenth Doctor.
Steven is quoted by DoctorWhoTV.co.uk as saying: "I think there were plans maybe to consider ending it.
"David owned that role in a spectacular way, gave it an all-new cheeky, sexy performance, and became a national treasure.
"So the idea that 'Doctor Who' could go on at all in the absence of David was a huge question.
"I didn't realise how many people thought it wouldn't succeed at all. That was quite terrifying when I found out about it later."
However, it was former executive producer Russell T. Davies - who resurrected the show in 2005 - that managed to convince the BBC to continue the series.
Steven added: "It was Russell T. Davies saying, 'You are not allowed to end it' [that kept it going]."
Matt Smith succeeded David in 2010 and was the titular Doctor until the 2013 Christmas special, when Peter Capaldi took on the lead role.
'X-Men Days Of Future Past' was a "final goodbye" for the original actors.
Screenwriter Simon Kinberg insists the latest installment of the Marvel adventure, which stars Sir Patrick Stewart as the older Charles Xavier who he first played in the original 'X-Men' trilogy, Sir Ian McKellen as the villain Magneto and Shawn Ashmore as Iceman, was the final wave to these actors portrayals of the iconic characters.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said: "We approached it as a final goodbye for the original actors. But to be totally candid, that's the way I approached X-Men: The Last Stand. If you talked to me in 2006 and said, 'Do you think we'll ever see Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier again? Do you think we'll see Ian and Halle and Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore back on screen together?' I most likely would have said no, and certainly in the case of Patrick Stewart I would have said no way."
Although in some ways he'll miss McKellen, Ashmore and Stewart's unique take on the comic book characters the film acted as a conclusion to their story.
He added: "There's some part of our brains that hopes we will see them again, but we wanted to tell a story that felt like it was a conclusion to their stories."
Charlize Theron thought she was going to die on the set of 'A Million Ways to Die in the West'.
The 38-year-old actress stars as the wife of a notorious gun-slinger in the comedy-western and while she was filming in the New Mexican desert the temperatures were so high she didn't think she would survive.
Quizzed on what it was like to film in the state, she told Collider.com: "It's a gorgeous place ... but I wouldn't necessarily want to go and shoot in it again.
"The weather was just unbelievable. I felt like it was Biblical times and we were all going to die a horrible death by weather."
Writer-director Seth MacFarlane, 40, acts alongside the 'Snow White and the Huntsman' star in the film and takes on the role of a cowardly farmer who begins to fall for her character when she teaches him how to shoot a gun and stand up for himself.
Theron admits that one day, when they'd finished shooting, MacFarlane sent her a message to warn her to leave the set as soon as possible because the heat was melting the road.
She added: "There was a night where we shot, and Seth left before me, and I got a text from him that literally just said, 'The road is washing away. Get out of your trailer right now and start driving.'
"I was like, 'I'm gonna die on this movie!'"
